Two of the most notorious villains in the Marvel universe are Ultron and Kang the Conqueror. Both are highly intelligent and incredibly powerful and have caused significant problems for the Avengers and other superheroes over the years. Now that Kang the Conqueror has joined the roster of villains in the MCU as well, we’ve decided to use this opportunity to see how Kang would fare if he was set to deal with Ultron, one of the biggest threats that the Avengers faced. Without further ado, let’s see if Kang and Ultron were to face off in a one-on-one fight; who would win, both in the comics and MCU?

Ultron would win in a fight against Kang the Conqueror in the comics and in the MCU. Kang the Conqueror has some powerful tech at his disposal, but Ultron is powerful. He is capable of vastly outsmarting him. He is more durable and stronger. Given enough prep time, Kang would have a chance, and it wouldn’t be an easy fight, but considering how things stand at the moment, Ultron wins this easily.

Now that we’ve covered that Ultron would be victorious, it’s time to analyze why. We will analyze both characters’ powers, abilities, strength, speed, and durability so you can see how we came to our conclusion. If you’re interested, keep reading!

Powers and abilities

In the MCU, we’ve seen Ultron using various powers, such as telekinesis, energy blasts, heat generation, and advanced technology manipulation.

However, his most formidable ability in the MCU, as well as in the comics, is his technoforming capability. This ability enables him to create, control, and transfer his consciousness into the Ultron Sentries, a group of smaller and weaker robots that he can command at will. The Ultron Sentries allow him to be virtually omnipresent and immortal since he can send them anywhere and anytime.

Ultron using telekinesis

Through this power, Ultron can overcome any obstacles and challenges with ease. He can use the Ultron Sentries to infiltrate any location, gather information, and complete his missions without risking his physical body. Moreover, the Sentries are equipped with various weapons and gadgets that Ultron can utilize to defeat his enemies.

Ultron’s technoforming ability gives him a massive tactical advantage over his opponents, making him a formidable force in any battle. However, this power is not without limitations, as Ultron’s consciousness can only inhabit a finite number of Sentries at any given time. If Ultron’s physical body is destroyed, his consciousness would also perish, limiting his immortality to the Ultron Sentries alone.

Kang also has his fair share of powerful abilities, and he likewise relies on powerful technology to increase his powers. Using his Time Chair powered by Multiversal Power Core, Kang can travel through time and open portals to specific locations. He also has advanced 40th-century armor at his disposal, giving him incredibly destructive and telekinetic abilities. For example, Kang can project blue beams of pure energy that are capable of completely disintegrating his targets. Of course, it wouldn’t work against Ultron, but the beams might be able to damage him.

Kang can also freeze biological beings in place with telekinesis and even slowly crush his targets. But again, it’s questionable how efficient this would be in a fight against Ultron. If the need for protection arises, Kang has powerful force fields at his disposal that can withstand massive damages dealt to him physically or via explosions without breaking.

Both Kang and Ultron are incredibly destructive when they want to be, and considering that in the comics, their powers are at more or less the same level, the point will be granted to both of them.

Strength and Stamina

As a robot, Ultron doesn’t really have physical limitations regarding strength and stamina. In the comics, he can lift at least 100 tons, which is mindblowing and far surpasses even some of the strongest superheroes in the Marvel Universe. Likewise, Ultron’s strength from the comics also transferred to the MCU. We’ve seen him easily overpowering Iron Man and Captain America, and he even managed to draw blood in his fight against Thor. Regarding stamina, as a robot, Ultron doesn’t need to eat or sleep. He can absorb environmental energy to some extent to power himself. His body also produces no fatigue toxins, meaning he can fight as long as he has power.

Ultron Strong

Kang’s neuro-kinetic armor provides him with superhuman strength. In the comics, Kang can lift up to 5 tons. We haven’t seen Kang lifting 5 tons (or more) in the MCU, but we’ve seen with such ease he managed to push away both Ant-Man and the Wasp. Kang’s armor likewise provides him with stamina levels that far surpass those of regular humans, and he was seen fighting for a long time without needing to rest.

Kang Strenght

Even though Kang is strong and has incredible stamina reserves, he can’ match Ultron’s robotic physiology, which gives him nearly unlimited strength and unlimited stamina reserves.

Speed

Even in his bulky and heavy body, Ultron is incredibly fast, and his speed keeps on upgrading every time he upgrades his body. Despite being made of metal, Ultron is incredibly agile and can move faster than the finest human athletes. He can quickly evade attacks and close the distance to his enemies, making him difficult to hit in combat. Moreover, Ultron’s robotic body allows him to make precise movements, granting him exceptional control over his actions.

Ultron flying

In addition to his impressive ground speed, Ultron can also fly, making him even more versatile in battle. In some instances, he has demonstrated the ability to keep up with Iron Man during flight, further highlighting his speed and maneuverability.

Ultron’s sentries allow him to achieve an omnipresence that few other beings can match. By transferring his consciousness into these smaller robots, Ultron can be in multiple locations simultaneously and observe his enemies from a distance. He can gather information, plan his next moves, and even initiate attacks from afar, making it challenging for his enemies to predict his movements.

Kang the Conqueror can travel through time and teleport. But this is unrelated to his combat speeds. Even though his armor gives him superhuman speed and reflexes to some extent, and we’ve seen him reacting fast to dangers, I don’t think he would pose a danger to Ultron, at least when it comes to speed.

Kang is fast, but he can’t measure up to flying Ultron. The point goes to the genocidal robot.

Points: Ultron (3:1) Kang the Conqueror

Durability

One of the key advantages of Ultron’s robotic body is that he is impervious to many of the vulnerabilities that afflict living beings. Ultron can never age, get sick, or succumb to diseases, unlike humans. His metal construction also makes him incredibly durable and resistant to physical damage. In fact, he has demonstrated the ability to withstand attacks from some of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, including Thor and the Hulk.

However, while Ultron’s metal body makes him difficult to kill, his internal mechanisms are more fragile. If his body is destroyed, his consciousness can still persist through his AI programming. As a result, he can simply upload himself to a new machine and continue to function as before. This ability to transfer his consciousness into different bodies gives Ultron a level of resilience and adaptability that few other villains possess.

Due to his neuro-kinetic armor, Kang can sustain blasts and hits that would have killed a regular human. His armor is impenetrable and is capable of withstanding explosions, direct hits, and even super-advanced ants. Likewise, due to time-traveling, Kang seemingly ages a lot more slowly.

Even though Kang is durable, he would be destroyed much faster than Ultron.

Points: Ultron (4:1) Kang the Conqueror

Intelligence

As an advanced artificial intelligence, Ultron possesses an intellect surpassing most other human beings. He is self-aware and has access to an immense amount of knowledge that is stored within his mainframe. With the ability to upload and process information at incredible speeds, Ultron’s capacity to learn is virtually limitless. He can analyze and comprehend even the most complex concepts within seconds, making him a formidable opponent to anyone who dares to challenge his intelligence.

Ultron program

Despite Ultron’s impressive cognitive abilities, as demonstrated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he is also known for lacking emotional intelligence and understanding of human behavior. This flaw ultimately led to his downfall and defeat by the Avengers. However, we cannot deny the fact that Ultron’s data processing and learning speeds are nothing short of remarkable. His rapid assimilation of knowledge and his ability to draw connections between seemingly disparate concepts make him a formidable foe that should not be underestimated.

Kang the Conqueror is considered to be a genius in the comics, and in the MCU, we’ve seen him create a whole empire almost out of nothing. In his time, Kang was a brilliant scientist interested in time-traveling. His curiosity eventually made this possible. With his brutal wit and unparalleled tactically-inclined mind, he conquered entire realities. Kang’s intelligence might be the most dangerous thing about it.

Kang time chair

Theoretically, this point should go to Ultron since no human being can match his processing speeds and pattern recognition. However, he doesn’t have intelligence feats in the MCU. Quite the contrary, while Kang already proved what he could do if given enough time, the point goes to both of them.

Points: Ultron (5:2) Kang the Conqueror

Combat Skills

Despite not having formal combat training, Ultron could best three of Earth’s best fighters: Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. While his raw strength was a significant factor in these victories, it is important to note that Ultron can rapidly learn and master combat techniques by downloading knowledge and associated movements in a matter of moments.

In addition to his formidable strength, Ultron is also surprisingly agile, despite his robotic form. His mechanical body is capable of rapid movement and quick reflexes, making him a difficult opponent to anticipate and counter in combat. Furthermore, Ultron’s advanced processing speed and strategic thinking give him a tactical advantage in battles, allowing him to quickly assess and exploit his opponent’s weaknesses.

It’s unclear how much formal combat training Kang had, but however you look at it, he has an entire timeline worth of combat experience while he was conquering the universe, past and future.

Kang proved himself to be a skilled combatant as he faced both Ant-Man and the Wasp simultaneously. He can likewise utilize his super-speed and super-reflexes in a battle.

Kang might not be able to learn every combat move instantly, but he definitely has incredible combat experience much richer than that of Ultron, so this point goes to him.

Points: Ultron (5:2) Kang the Conqueror

Ultron vs. Kang, who wins?

Despite Kang the Conqueror being incredibly powerful, he won’t be able to defeat Ultron, at least not by himself. Both Ultron and Kang have incredible abilities and are capable of causing great destruction. However, Ultron’s durability, speed, longevity, and ability to jump into sentry bodies would make him victorious in this fight. There’s really nothing that Kang can do about this except go back in time to prevent Ultron from being created in the first place to avoid the fight. It wouldn’t be an easy fight, and Kang would inevitably be able to at least damage Ultron with his blasts, but he couldn’t destroy him fully.
