Who Is Victor Timely? Kang Variant Explained
While the focus of the people that saw Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is on the mid-credit scene involving the Council of Kangs, the post-credit scene was just as interesting because it featured a possible sneak preview of one of the most successful MCU projects on Disney+. In that scene, we saw Loki and Mobius traveling back in time to what seemed like the late 19th century or the early 20th century as they witnessed a show by a Kang variant named Victor Timely. So, who is Victor Timely?
In the comics, Victor Timely is a Kang variant that traveled back to the early 19th century so that he could start his conquest of the modern age as early as possible. He established the town of Timely, Wisconsin, where different factories under Timely Industries were built under the leadership of Victor Timely.
At this point, we are unsure of what or who Victor Timely is in the MCU. But all we know is that he has a large role to play in the future events of Loki season 2, especially now that the timeline has been altered and that Loki and Mobius are looking to fix things. Now, let’s look at what we know about Victor Timely and what this Kang variant has to offer to the future of the MCU.
Who is Victor Timely?
We all know that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania finally revealed the evil Kang the Conqueror, the very man He Who Remains tried to make sure would never be born. Of course, we saw how great of a threat Kang the Conqueror was when he took over the entire Quantum Realm with his advanced technology. As such, the Ant-Family ensured he would never leave the Quantum Realm as he was a threat to the multiverse.
After Kang the Conqueror was defeated, we were treated to a sneak preview of what was to come in the future of the MCU, particularly in Avengers: Kang Dynasty. That’s because the mid-credit scene introduced the Council of Kangs, who confirmed the Conqueror’s death at the hands of the Ant-Family.
Of course, the focus of those who saw Quantumania shifted over to the Council of Kangs and how they could be a threat to the MCU in the future. But the post-credit scene was just as interesting as the mid-credit scene, and that’s because it was in the post-credit scene that we saw a sneak preview of the future events of the upcoming second season of Loki.
In the post-credit scene, Loki and Mobius traveled to what looked like the late 19th century or the early 20th century as they watched a show on stage. The one on stage was a Kang variant that called himself Victor Timely. Mobius didn’t think of him as much, but Loki was afraid of him. So, who is Victor Timely?
As mentioned, Victor Timely is a Kang variant. Outside of that, we don’t know much about what and who he is in the MCU. But there are clues about him based on his counterpart in the comic books.
In the comics, Victor Timely was a divergent version of Kang that decided to travel back to the 20th century after Kang Prime was defeated in his attempt to take over the modern world. Timely thought that he could start his conquest of the modern world by establishing the foundations early, and that was why he traveled back in time to the start of the 20th century.
Victor Timely established the town of Timely, Wisconsin, where he became its first mayor. In Timely, he used his influence and knowledge of futuristic technology to put up factories and businesses that soon became Timely Industries. He also taught his staff the principles of robotics.
Soon after that, Timely created the realm called Chronopolis, which was out of sync with the town of Timely. This was where he monitored his conquests. And while he was away from the town of Timely, he created a robotic version of himself that aged so that Victor Timely would not appear immortal.
The original Victor Timely was soon replaced by Timely Jr., who was able to help the town prosper to greater heights. By the time it was Victor Timely III’s time to govern the town, Timely Industries had become so powerful that it was responsible for much of the technology that Mr. Fantastic and the Fantastic Four used. In short, Victor Timely created an empire that allowed him to find a way to take over the modern world without the use of force.
Of course, we don’t know how the MCU will portray Victor Timely in the upcoming Loki series, but we are pretty sure that he will have a different story because the Fantastic Four is yet to be introduced in the MCU. As such, we can’t say for certain who Victor Timely is in the MCU and what his role will be.
Will Victor Timely appear in Loki Season 2?
At this point, Victor Timely will be in season 2 of Loki and will likely play a huge role in the series’ events. We all know that Loki is now looking to right the mistakes that he and Sylvie committed when they caused the death of He Who Remains. And he may now be looking for a way to reach the different Kang variants out there due to how the sacred timeline branched out and created different timelines and universes with their own version of Kang.
As such, Victor Timely may be the Kang variant that Loki and Mobius first encounter in their search for Kang variants. We don’t know exactly what kind of a person Timely will be in Loki season 2. Still, there is a good reason to believe that he isn’t exactly friendly and is probably attempting to take over the modern world by establishing his foothold as an industry leader as early as possible. And he might be the gateway that Loki would use to get to the other Kang variants to get to the bottom of this mess he helped start.
