Marvel Studios Unveils First Trailer and Release Date for ‘Wonder Man’
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Wonder Man, marking the debut of a new hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The live-action series will arrive on Disney+ on January 27, 2026, as part of Marvel’s Phase Six lineup.
The series centers on Simon Williams, a Hollywood stuntman and actor who unexpectedly gains superhuman powers. The role is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his performances in Watchmen and Aquaman.
Wonder Man is led by Andrew Guest, who serves as showrunner, with Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, developing the show and directing several episodes. Filmmakers Stella Meghie and James Ponsoldt also share directing duties.

The show is being released under Marvel’s “Marvel Spotlight” label, which focuses on smaller, character-driven stories that don’t rely on prior MCU knowledge. This approach gives new viewers a chance to jump in without needing to follow the entire Marvel timeline.

Alongside Abdul-Mateen II, the cast includes Ben Kingsley reprising his fan-favorite role as Trevor Slattery, the washed-up actor first seen in Iron Man 3 and later in Shang-Chi. The ensemble also features Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, and Arian Moayed in key supporting roles.
Filming started in early 2023 in Los Angeles but was briefly halted due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Production resumed in early 2024 and wrapped several months later. The series will consist of eight episodes in total.
