The latest Demon Slayer movie, Infinity Castle, is continuing to break records in theaters around the world.

In just one month of being shown in U.S. cinemas, the film has become the highest-grossing international movie ever in the country.

Global Box Office reported the milestone, while Box Office Mojo confirmed that the film has earned $128,637,106 in the U.S. alone, with tickets still available for future showings.

By surpassing Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which made $128,530,421 in the U.S. when it was released, Infinity Castle has set a new benchmark for international films in America. Lee’s movie remains a beloved classic, holding a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and winning the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in 2001.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is a 2025 Japanese animated action film based on the “Infinity Castle” arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s popular manga series. The movie continues the story from the anime’s fourth season and follows earlier films including Mugen Train (2020), To the Swordsmith Village (2023), and To the Hashira Training (2024). Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable, the movie was written by the studio’s team.

Unlike the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training films, which were mostly compilations of episodes, Infinity Castle is a full-length feature due to the story’s size and pacing, similar to Mugen Train. This movie is the first part of a trilogy announced in June 2024 after the anime’s fourth season ended.

Officially titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, it premiered in Japan on July 18, through Aniplex and Toho. Crunchyroll, in partnership with Sony Pictures Releasing, released it in select Asian countries in August before a global rollout the following month.

The movie has already grossed $648 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Japanese film ever, the top-grossing international film in the U.S., and the fifth-highest-grossing movie of 2025. Critics have praised the film for its action, visuals, and storytelling, although some noted issues with pacing.
