Netflix’s live-action One Piece is quickly becoming the main focus for fans as the anime takes a break until April. With no new anime episodes for now, many viewers are turning their attention to Season 2 of the live-action series, which has been in the works for several years.

Season 2 has been officially confirmed to premiere on March 10, 2026, according to Netflix. Filming began in June 2024 and was expected to finish by the end of the year. The series was renewed for a second season just two weeks after Season 1 launched, showing strong early support from Netflix. The company later doubled down on that success by renewing One Piece for a third season in August, even before Season 2 airs.

One of the biggest reasons fans are excited is the arrival of Tony Tony Chopper. The Straw Hats’ doctor is finally making his live-action debut, and many viewers see him as the most important new character in Season 2. Chopper was recently featured in a new teaser shown during Jump Festa 2026.

The trailer focuses on Chopper and highlights how he sounds in different language versions of the show. It also confirms that Ikue Otani, who voices Chopper in the anime, will return to voice him again in the Japanese dub of the live-action series. This information was shared through official Jump Festa updates.

Chopper’s appearance was first hinted at back in September 2023, when One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda appeared in a video announcing the renewal of the series. Since then, Netflix has slowly revealed more details through social media posts and events. In May 2024, a video celebrating Luffy’s birthday teased the appearance of Mr. 3, signaling the direction Season 2 would take.

Casting announcements for Season 2 have been steady and wide-ranging. Netflix confirmed actors for several major roles tied to upcoming story arcs. These include new allies and enemies such as Mr. 9, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, Mr. 3, Crocus, Brogy, Dorry, Smoker, Tashigi, Wapol, and Dalton. All of these casting updates were shared through official Netflix announcements and press releases.

Other notable roles were revealed later. Katey Sagal was confirmed as Dr. Kureha, with Mark Harelik playing Dr. Hiruluk. This followed earlier reports that Jamie Lee Curtis had been considered for the role but could not join due to schedule issues, as explained by producer Becky Clements. More cast members were added over time, including actors playing Nefertari Cobra, Miss Wednesday, Mr. 0, Miss All Sunday, Dragon, Igaram, and Ipponmatsu.

The final major update tied back to Chopper came during Netflix’s Tudum event on May 31. At the event, Netflix announced that Mikaela Hoover will provide the English voice for Tony Tony Chopper. This confirmed how the character will be handled across different versions of the show.
