Netflix has confirmed that its animated series Devil May Cry will wrap up with a third and final season. The show, based on Capcom’s popular video game franchise, will complete what the creators describe as a planned three-part story arc focused on Dante’s journey.

The news was shared through a press release reported by Netflix and series creator Adi Shankar. The announcement came alongside confirmation that Season 3 had officially been greenlit, meaning production will move ahead as the final chapter of the series.

Shankar spoke about the structure of the show and explained that the ending was planned from the start. He said, “For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time. This was always Dante’s Divine Comedy with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso. These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.’ Since inception, ‘The Force Edge Saga’ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series.”

The series follows Dante, a demon hunter who takes on dangerous jobs while dealing with a world threatened by demonic forces. He is constantly pulled into conflict with both humans and demons, including a major enemy known as the White Rabbit, who pushes for a violent clash between worlds.

According to Netflix’s official information, the show blends action, fantasy, and dark storytelling, with Dante at the center of a larger war between humanity and demons. The story also involves government forces like DARKCOM and powerful figures who attempt to control or eliminate supernatural threats.

The show is produced by Studio Mir, Adi Shankar Animation, and Capcom. It is based on the long-running Devil May Cry video game series. The voice cast includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary Ann Arkham, Hoon Lee as the White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo Ferino, Robbie Daymond as Vergil, and Graham McTavish as Arius von Erenburg. Earlier seasons also featured Kevin Conroy and Ian James Corlett as William Baines.

Season 1 premiered on April 3, 2025, and quickly led to a renewal for Season 2. That second season arrived on May 12, 2026. Shortly after its release, Netflix confirmed that the story would continue into a third season, which will also be its last.

Reception to the series has been mixed among longtime fans, while critics have generally responded more positively. Despite different opinions, the show gained strong viewership attention during its run.

With Season 3 now confirmed as the ending, the series will conclude Dante’s arc and finish the planned “Force Edge Saga” storyline.
