‘Verity’ Star Anne Hathaway (43) Proudly Shows Off Her Baby Bump During a Stylish NYC Outing
Anne Hathaway’s maternity style has become a story of its own this year. The actress has promoted a record number of films while expecting her third child, and she has turned every appearance into a fashion moment. Fans and fashion outlets have tracked each outfit from the first bump reveal onward.
That reveal came on June 19, when Hathaway announced the pregnancy on Instagram in a video set to Barbara Lewis’s ‘Baby, I’m Yours’. She stood with her arms folded across her midsection, then revealed her bump with a radiant smile. She and her husband, Adam Shulman, who married in 2012, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
Hathaway’s latest outfit arrived on Sept. 30, when she was photographed outside The Drew Barrymore Show in Midtown Manhattan. She wore an off-the-shoulder black ensemble with a sheer panel that revealed her baby bump, a design Page Six described as having a built-in window. The softly folded neckline, fitted translucent sleeves and long panels of fabric that fell almost to the pavement gave the look the sweeping shape of an evening gown.
Beneath the draped top, she wore flowing black trousers, and she kept the accessories minimal with dark sunglasses and silver-toned bangles. Page Six noted that the semi-sheer top framed her belly with long swaths of fabric draped on either side. Harper’s Bazaar described it as a flowing black off-the-shoulder dress with draping and a semi-sheer bodice.

The daytime look softened the same palette she used the night before. At the ‘Verity’ New York premiere on Sept. 29, Hathaway wore a custom black Atelier Prabal Gurung gown with a sweetheart neckline, crystal bead embroidery and a tulle cape train, styled by Erin Walsh. She added a black manicure, diamond bracelets and emerald earrings.
Black suits a psychological thriller, and the choice also gave her a clear thread through the final stretch of the tour. ‘Verity’ opens in theaters on Oct. 2 and is her fifth and final release of 2026. It follows ‘Mother Mary’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, ‘The Odyssey’ and ‘The End of Oak Street’.
The black outfits are a notable change from the rest of her pregnancy wardrobe. A Harper’s Bazaar roundup covering July through September described a mix of romantic silhouettes, knitwear and bold primary colors, with neutrals like white, black and chocolate brown in between. Hathaway has repeatedly worn form-fitting and cropped silhouettes rather than hiding her pregnancy under loose layers, including a Cult Gaia halterneck crop top with white custom trousers outside SiriusXM Studios on July 16.
For the ‘Verity’ tour, she has leaned into color too. On Sept. 18, she stepped out in a red Carolina Herrera dress with lettuce trim around the waist and hem, and a day earlier she wore a black knitted halter dress. During the ‘The Odyssey’ press run, she wore a Prada look in New York and a blue chiffon Dior gown in London, and she wore a lilac Alexander McQueen gown to the Bulgari Serpenti Infinito event.
Hathaway has also not shied away from the conversation around her bump. She has put it on display throughout her pregnancy, including shutting down comments that it looked fake with a witty Instagram post. That confidence, paired with a team that clearly enjoys playing with proportions, has made her one of the year’s most-watched maternity style stars.
The pregnancy has shaped her work schedule in practical ways. She was unable to travel overseas for the ‘Verity’ London premiere, so co-stars Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett attended while she continued press from New York. She also said her doctor advised against taking part in the real ‘Hot Ones’ challenge because she might go into early labor.
After the film’s release, Hathaway is expected to take a break from work. That makes the final appearances of the press tour feel like a send-off for a very busy year. With ‘Verity’ tracking for a strong box office debut, she can close out 2026 with a victory lap.
If the Drew Barrymore look is any sign, the last looks of the tour will keep blending glamour with comfort. The wardrobe has felt less like styling around a pregnancy and more like celebrating it. Whatever comes next, fans will be watching.
