The Justice League movie hit theaters in 2017 with high expectations, bringing together DC’s biggest heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman to battle a cosmic threat. However, the film, shaped by two directors and last-minute changes, stumbled in ways that confused many viewers, including me.

From odd character choices to gaps in the story, the theatrical cut left plenty of questions unanswered. Here are 10 things about ‘Justice League’ (2017) that just didn’t add up, each with a closer look at why they felt so off.

Superman’s Return and Clark Kent’s Public Life

Warner Bros.

Superman’s resurrection in ‘Justice League’ (2017) is a big moment, but it raises a huge issue. Clark Kent, a well-known reporter, was publicly dead, buried in a casket, yet he strolls back into life without explanation.

How does he return to his job at the Daily Planet? The movie never addresses how a famous figure can reappear without causing a stir, leaving a massive gap in the story.

The Parademons’ Inconsistent Fear-Sniffing

Warner Bros.

Parademons, the alien minions in ‘Justice League’ (2017), are drawn to fear, which Batman uses to lure one early in the film. This trait drives the plot, even turning against the villain Steppenwolf when he shows fear.

But why don’t they ever target The Flash, who’s openly nervous and inexperienced? The film ignores this, making their fear-sensing ability feel selective and convenient.

Cyborg as a Walking Plot Device

Warner Bros.

Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher in ‘Justice League’ (2017), is central to the story due to his connection to the Mother Box, a key alien artifact. Yet, his character feels underdeveloped, serving more as a tool to move the plot than a fully realized hero.

His sudden ability to control or understand the Mother Box feels too convenient. The movie skips over his growth, making his role feel hollow and confusing.

Where Was the Suicide Squad?

Warner Bros.

The world in ‘Justice League’ (2017) faces a massive alien invasion, with Parademons swarming cities. Batman knows Amanda Waller from ‘Suicide Squad’ (2016), a team built for extreme threats.

Why doesn’t he call them for help? The absence of any mention of this ready-made team, especially with an evil Superman briefly in play, feels like a bizarre oversight.

Steppenwolf’s Convenient Timing

Warner Bros.

Steppenwolf, the villain of ‘Justice League’ (2017), invades Earth to reclaim the Mother Boxes right after Superman’s death. The timing is suspiciously perfect, as if he was waiting for the planet’s strongest defender to be gone.

The film doesn’t explain why he didn’t attack earlier or why the boxes activated now. This coincidence makes the stakes feel artificial and forced.

Batman’s Struggle with a Single Parademon

Warner Bros.

Early in ‘Justice League’ (2017), Batman, played by Ben Affleck, barely handles a single Parademon in a fight, suggesting he’s getting too old for the job. This sets up his need for a team.

Yet, later, he takes on hordes of them with ease. This flip in his combat ability feels inconsistent, undermining the idea that he’s past his prime.

Aquaman’s First Trip to Atlantis

Warner Bros.

In ‘Justice League’ (2017), Arthur Curry, played by Jason Momoa, visits Atlantis for the first time, meeting Mera in a scene meant to tease his solo film ‘Aquaman’ (2018). But the sequence raises questions.

If this is his first visit, how does he know how to get there or even breathe underwater so easily? The movie glosses over these details, leaving his introduction jarring.

The Mother Boxes’ Sudden Awakening

Warner Bros.

The Mother Boxes, ancient artifacts in ‘Justice League’ (2017), are dormant for centuries until they suddenly activate, summoning Steppenwolf. The film hints Superman’s death might be the trigger, but it’s vague.

Why now, and why were they silent for so long? This lack of clarity makes the entire invasion plot feel like it happens just because the script needed it to.

The Missing Military Response

Warner Bros.

An alien army invades Earth in ‘Justice League’ (2017), with battles tearing through cities. Yet, there’s no sign of any military or government response, even though this is a global crisis.

Surely, world leaders or armed forces would notice Parademons everywhere. The film’s silence on this makes the world feel oddly empty and unrealistic.

The Flash’s Underused Speed

Warner Bros.

The Flash, played by Ezra Miller in ‘Justice League’ (2017), has incredible speed, shown in flashy moments like dodging attacks or saving civilians. But his powers are barely used in key battles.

Why doesn’t he zip in to grab the Mother Boxes or stop Steppenwolf instantly? The movie limits his role, making his abilities feel wasted and the team’s strategy questionable.

Which confusing moment in ‘Justice League’ (2017) bugged you the most, or did I miss something else that didn’t add up? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
