DC fans have spent months chasing every scrap of information about who exactly is stepping into one of the most iconic superhero roles in comic book history. Ever since casting rumors first surfaced earlier this year, speculation around a single actress has only grown louder with each passing month.

That speculation reached a fever pitch this week at San Diego Comic Con, where reporters finally got the chance to ask the question directly to the person at the center of it all. What followed turned into one of the more memorable non-answers of the entire convention.

Entertainment Weekly asked Adria Arjona point blank about the Wonder Woman rumors surrounding her role in ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ and rather than offering a straight denial, the actress simply turned and walked out of frame, saying “I’m going to go now.” She returned moments later with everyone around her laughing, choosing to pivot the conversation rather than shut the speculation down entirely.

Once back on camera, Arjona steered the discussion toward her relationship with James Gunn instead, expressing how much she loves working with the DC Studios co-head. That kind of redirect, paired with her earlier walk-away moment, has only added fuel to a rumor that has been building since her casting was first announced.

Arjona was confirmed to be joining ‘Man of Tomorrow’ back in April, though her exact role has remained a mystery ever since. Some early reports indicated she was cast as Maxima, while others suggested that detail was simply cover for a much bigger reveal involving Wonder Woman, who has yet to be officially cast anywhere in Gunn’s rebuilt DC Universe.

The rumor gained additional traction thanks to Arjona’s real-life boyfriend, Jason Momoa, who was asked about the speculation during a separate press stop for ‘Supergirl.’ Rather than confirming or denying anything himself, Momoa simply praised his girlfriend, joking that she was hot when asked whether he was rooting for her to land the role.

Gunn himself has weighed in on the broader speculation as well, though not by directly addressing Arjona’s casting. He previously told Extra that Arjona would make a great Wonder Woman while explaining that his decision to follow her on Instagram had nothing to do with any casting news, since the two have been friends since working together on 2016’s ‘The Belko Experiment.’

Adding another layer to the mystery, Gunn also confirmed to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year that a Wonder Woman feature film is currently being written, alongside a separate HBO series centered on the character’s homeland of Themyscira. That confirmation alone signals just how central the character is expected to become within the wider DC Universe moving forward.

Arjona’s résumé certainly makes her a strong contender regardless of which role she ultimately plays. Her recent turn as Bix Caleen in ‘Andor,’ widely considered one of the best performances in the acclaimed Star Wars series, showcased both the emotional range and action capability the Wonder Woman role would demand.

Do you think Adria Arjona is the new Wonder Woman?

With ‘Man of Tomorrow’ still a year away from its July 9 release date next year, Arjona’s actual role looks likely to remain under wraps for a while longer. Given how tightly DC Studios has guarded other casting secrets recently, fans may simply have to wait for the film itself to get a definitive answer.

For now, Arjona’s playful non-denial has done exactly what these kinds of moments are designed to do, keeping fans talking without confirming a single detail. What do you think, is Adria Arjona secretly playing Wonder Woman in ‘Man of Tomorrow ‘? Share your theories in the comments.
