Armie Hammer Is Back… In Uwe Boll’s ‘The Dark Knight’
Armie Hammer is making a comeback. He’s starring in a new movie called “The Dark Knight,” directed by Uwe Boll. This isn’t the Batman film you might think of—it’s a different story. Hammer plays Sanders, a vigilante who hunts criminals. The movie is about his fight against crime and the police trying to stop him. It’s filming now in Zagreb, Croatia.
Uwe Boll is known for making controversial movies. Some of his past films, like “House of the Dead” and “Alone in the Dark,” got bad reviews. This time, he’s working with Hammer, who’s been out of the spotlight for years.
Hammer faced serious allegations in 2021, including sexual abuse and cannibalism rumors. He denied the claims, and no charges were filed after a police investigation. Still, his career took a big hit.
The movie’s title has caused trouble. Warner Bros., who owns the Batman “Dark Knight” name, sent Boll a cease-and-desist letter. They don’t want confusion with Christopher Nolan’s 2008 hit. Boll is refusing to change it.
He says his film is different—it’s a violent thriller about crime in Europe, not a superhero story. He’s sticking with the title despite the legal pushback.
Hammer’s return has people talking. He’s also working on another film, a Western called “Frontier Crucible.” After years away, he’s trying to rebuild his image. “The Dark Knight” stars other actors like Costas Mandylor and Amanda Plummer. Production wrapped recently, and editing is underway in Santa Monica. No release date is set yet.
Boll has big plans. He’s already thinking about sequels. He believes the story, which tackles current issues, will draw viewers. Hammer’s role as a vigilante fits his past—he was once cast as Batman in a canceled “Justice League” movie. Now, he’s getting a second shot at a “Dark Knight” title, just not the one fans expected.
Hammer’s comeback with Boll is a risky move. Both have baggage—Hammer with his scandals, Boll with his reputation. The title fight with Warner Bros. could hurt the film before it even releases. It’s a bold play, but it might just be a flop waiting to happen.
