As we are all anticipating ‘Deadpool 3,’ it really reminds us of how, back in early 2022, we were all anticipating ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ and there were literally countless theories about special returns in cameos that were reportedly bound to happen in the movie. In the end, the second ‘Doctor Strange’ movie had its fair share of surprises, but some of the rumored special cameos, such as Tom Cruise’s Superior Iron Man, didn’t happen in the end.

The upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ is also set to deal with the concept of the Multiverse, but in a Deadpool sort of way, of course. To save us from theories and unconfirmed rumors, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman immediately announced that Jackman would surely return as the Wolverine, and Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra was also confirmed last July. With Elektra’s return confirmed, some fans started wondering if Ben Affleck’s Daredevil would also return, but it looks like that won’t be the case.

Do not expect to see Ben Affleck as Daredevil again!

Jennifer Garner debuted as Elektra in the ‘Daredevil’ movie starring Ben Affleck back in 2003. Two years later, she starred in her own spin-off movie ‘Elektra.’ Neither of these movies received positive reviews, particularly ‘Elektra,’ which turned out to be both critical and commercial flop.

The return of Garner’s Elektra was totally unexpected, but it pretty much confirmed the Multiverse premise for ‘Deadpool 3.’ Her return sparked theories among fans that we could see Ben Affleck as Daredevil in the movie as well, especially after Affleck was reportedly spotted on the ‘Deadpool 3’ set.

However, known leaker DanielRPK (via Deadpool Updates) now claims that Affleck will not be reprising the role of Daredevil in ‘Deadpool 3,’ despite being spotted on the movie’s set. KC Walsh, who previously claimed that Affleck would return, later said that Affleck was offered to return, but he declined, and he was on the set only to visit Garner, who is Affleck’s ex-wife, and their three children.

Ben Affleck joined DC Extended Universe as Batman in 2016’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ and his last appearance as the Caped Crusader was in this year’s ‘The Flash,’ which finished with Affleck’s Batman being erased from the timeline.

‘Deadpool 3’ is maybe the most anticipated Marvel movie at this point, but that creates a huge amount of pressure because the movie will need to deal with a lot of things. The movie will need to bring back Reynolds’ Deadpool in all of his glory, handle Jackman’s return as the Wolverine the right way after what happened in ‘Logan,’ balance all the confirmed and rumored returns so the movie doesn’t feel overcrowded, smoothly include Deadpool into the MCU’s canon, bring us all R-rated stuff we expect, and on top of it all, be a good movie. So, no pressure.

Directed by Shawn Levy, ‘Deadpool 3’ is currently scheduled to be released in May 2024. However, with the production currently on hold and the strikes in Hollywood nowhere close to being resolved, the chances for another delay are growing every day.
