Starz has released the trailer for the fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and it immediately picks up from the tense cliffhanger left at the end of season four.

The previous season ended on a dramatic moment where Kanan, played by MeKai Curtis, had a gun pointed at his mother Raquel “Raq” Thomas, played by Patina Miller. The new trailer confirms her return and shows that the conflict between mother and son is far from over. The situation continues to spiral after Kanan blames Raq for the death of his best friend and girlfriend, pushing their relationship into dangerous territory.

Season five follows Kanan as he continues his rise in the Southside drug world alongside Breeze, played by Shameik Moore. According to the official synopsis, Kanan is now fully stepping into the ruthless identity that fans know from the original Power series, where the character is later portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The story focuses on his transformation and how he becomes fully committed to the criminal path that defines his future.

The synopsis also makes it clear that the tension between Kanan and Raq has reached a breaking point. Any chance of repairing their relationship is gone, and war between them seems unavoidable. As alliances form and break across the criminal world, Kanan continues building his power base with Breeze, setting the stage for major fallout across the Southside. Other storylines will also continue, including conflicts involving Unique and the Thomas family, as well as mafia-related pressure building in the background.

The trailer also highlights how this final season connects to the wider Power universe. It will lead directly into the upcoming prequel series Power: Origins, continuing the franchise timeline and expanding the backstory of key characters.

The series features a large ensemble cast including London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Joey Bada$$, Hailey Kilgore, Wendell Pierce, Erika Woods, Tony Danza, Joe Pantoliano, and Leslie Grossman.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan was created and is showrun by Sascha Penn. The series is executive produced by Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, and Chris Selak, with production handled by Lionsgate Television for Starz.

Season five of Raising Kanan premieres on June 12, with new episodes releasing weekly on Fridays.
