Here Is How Much Spider-Man Can Lift
Arguably one of the most popular superheroes of all time is Spider-Man. Of course, one of the things that have allowed Spider-Man to become popular is his superhuman strength. Spider-Man is so strong that he is capable of lifting heavy objects that regular people are not capable of lifting. But how much can Spider-Man lift?
Spider-Man can lift up to ten tons, which means that he is a lot stronger than some of the other characters with peak-human strength. Spider-Man’s strength is classified as superhuman, putting him above enhanced humans like Black Widow, Captain America, and others, but below the strength of Hulk and Thor, whose strength is considered incalculable.
We all know that Spider-Man has always been strong, but the thing about him is that he was never just about his strength. His mobility, fighting skills, and courage have always allowed Spider-Man to stay as popular as he is, and that’s why he is one of the best all-around superheroes in existence. So, with that said, let’s look at how much Spider-Man can lift.
How Much Can Spider-Man Lift?
We all know that Spider-Man is incredibly strong and capable of performing feats of strength that not many other superheroes are capable of. His strength boost resulted from his physical transformation after being bitten by a radioactive spider. As such, while he doesn’t look like he’s strong because he is quite lean, Spider-Man can lift his body weight many times and can perform incredible acrobatic moves that showcase his body control and agility.
While being able to sling from one building to another is impressive, being able to overpower many different supervillains and stop cars in their tracks is just as impressive. In fact, in the MCU, Spider-Man could stop Cull Obsidian’s hammer quite easily, which means that he is actually deceptively strong. But just how much can Spider-Man lift in the comics?
Spider-Man has always matched the strength levels of certain characters, such as the likes of Rhino, Venmo, and other villains in the Spider-Man storyline. And that’s because he can lift up to ten tons due to his strength. This has allowed him to lift incredibly heavy objects like debris and cars. And being able to lift ten tons is impressive in the world of Marvel, as that makes him incredibly strong to the point that he is one of the strongest poster boys of Marvel Comics.
But while Spider-Man is very strong, he doesn’t seem to match the strength levels of other powerhouses, including Thor and the Hulk. Still, that doesn’t take away anything from him, as he is still so much stronger than some of the other iconic heroes of Marvel Comics. And we know that Spider-Man has always been more about his courage and heart instead of his strength.
Of course, there’s also the fact that Spider-Man is several times stronger than some of the strongest real-life personalities that exist in our world. For example, the current bench press record is 783 pounds, which was achieved by Julius Maddox in 2021. Then, in 2020, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who you might be familiar with because he played Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in Game of Thrones, deadlifted 1,104.5 pounds.
Those numbers pale in comparison to Spider-Man’s ability to lift several tons, as he is potentially capable of lifting nearly 20 times what The Mountain was able to achieve during his run in Strongman competitions.
As such, while his strength may not be very impressive compared to Thor and the Hulk, Spider-Man is a lot stronger than our modern-day strongman, powerlifter, and bodybuilder.
Spider-Man’s Strength Compared to Other Marvel Characters
Of course, the best way to truly see just how strong Spider-Man can be is to compare him to other Marvel characters that are near his level and often associated with him in the comics.
How does Spider-man compares to Venom?
Venom, who is empowered by the symbiote that once bonded with Spider-Man, is supposedly physically stronger than Peter Parker and is said to be able to perform feats of strength that not even Spider-Man can accomplish. It is said that Venom could potentially lift up to 50 tons, which means that he is almost five times stronger than Spider-Man.
Is Spider-Man stronger than Captain America?
Another poster boy in the Marvel Comics universe is Captain America, who the Super Soldier Serum strengthened. Thanks to the serum, Steve Rogers could reach peak human levels of strength, speed, agility, and durability. However, he is often portrayed to be much stronger than a human at his very peak, as he was seen to be able to lift up to 1,500 pounds.
This means that Captain America is nowhere near Spider-Man’s strength. We saw this in the events of the MCU when Spider-Man overpowered Steve Rogers, only to get defeated by Captain America’s superior experience and skills. And we also saw Spider-Man overpowering the Winter Soldier, who is just as strong as Captain America.
Is Spider-Man stronger than Black Panther?
Black Panther is another one of the most iconic Marvel superheroes that have enhanced strength levels. After ingesting the Heart-Shaped Herb, T’Challa became strong enough to lift up to 800 pounds. However, after another strong boost in the comics, he became so strong that he could now lift up to two tons.
But while Black Panther did indeed receive a strength boost in the comics, his maximum strength still pales in comparison to Spider-Man’s own strength, as Peter Parker could lift nearly five times what T’Challa is capable of.
