Johnny Knoxville Shuts Down Any Hope of a New Generation Taking Over Jackass
Johnny Knoxville is making sure nobody walks away from ‘Jackass: Best and Last’ expecting a sequel with fresh blood. The star had a blunt response when asked whether the torch could eventually be passed to a new generation for a potential sixth installment, and Knoxville left absolutely no room for interpretation.
“I think there is 0% chance of that happening. We’re done.” He said while talking to The Hook.
Knoxville has been just as direct in other recent interviews promoting the film. He told USA Today there is a zero percent chance there will ever be another ‘Jackass,’ adding that they’re done, period.
The decision to finally close the book on the franchise largely comes down to Knoxville’s own physical limits, since the 55-year-old is no longer able to perform the kind of massive stunts that defined the series, especially after suffering a major concussion when he was hit by a bull while filming Jackass Forever. This time, Knoxville is drawing a clear line between this ending and the ones that came before it.
Knoxville acknowledged that the crew has claimed to be finished before, admitting that after the very first Jackass they said they were done and weren’t, so every film since has been left open ended. This time, he insists that pattern is over for good when it comes to another movie in the series.
Not every member of the crew is ruling out a return in some form. Steve-O suggested the franchise could eventually live on through a documentary series chronicling its history, saying he is confident there will never be another Jackass film but believes a behind the scenes docuseries is close to inevitable. Knoxville backed up that idea, confirming there are plans to do a Jackass documentary in the not too distant future.
Knoxville made clear the friendships behind the franchise are not going anywhere either, saying the cast plans to keep working together on other projects just not under the Jackass name, and that the group’s bond and the public’s ongoing support give them no reason to stop hanging out and collaborating. That sentiment lines up with the emotional tone critics have noted throughout ‘Best and Last.’

The film has been described as a genuine send-off for the franchise, featuring the cast performing gross-out stunts suited to their age alongside callbacks to some of the series’ most iconic bits, including an emotional moment where Knoxville gets visibly teary-eyed talking about the end of the road. Reviewers have noted the film leans harder into slapstick and psychological gags rather than the death-defying physical stunts of earlier entries, a shift that reflects just how much the cast has aged since the series began.
The franchise’s return this year came together quickly, with Knoxville announcing the project on Instagram before the film’s June 26 release, marking the first new Jackass movie since 2022’s Jackass Forever.
Should ‘Jackass’ continue with a new generation of performers?
The film also features late addition Bam Margera through previously unseen archival footage, giving longtime fans one more callback before the credits roll for good. With Knoxville’s latest comments, it sounds like whatever comes next for the franchise will live on in memory and maybe a documentary, but not in another feature film.
