Josh Brolin Confirms He Is Not Coming Back as Cable in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The third installment in the franchise marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.

Recently, a teaser trailer was released during the Superbowl and we got a glimpse into the overall plot of the movie we can see Wade Wilson just trying to live his life after he resurrected Vanessa in ‘Deadpool 2’ when he is apprehended by TVA Agent Mr. Paradox for yet unknown purpose. The teaser trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ franchise are going to be making a return. Morena Baccarin confirmed her return several weeks ago. Rob Delaney was also seen in the trailer, returning as Peter after also being “resurrected” at the end of the previous movie.

Leslie Uggams will be appearing again as Blind Al, with Karan Soni returning as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand returning as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić returning as Colossus, Shiolo Kutsuna returning as Yukio, and Lewis Tan reprising his role as Shatterstar.

If you’ve read this cast list you’re probably wondering about two pretty important characters from the last movie, namely Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’s Domino. Zazie Beetz confirmed several months ago that she won’t be reprising her role, and Brolin’s confirmation came yesterday, in an interview with Collider.

When asked why, Brolin jokingly answered that Ryan doesn’t like him. We find that hard to believe since Ryan Reynolds is rumored to be a charm to work with. There’s also the issue of plot since it was Cable’s time-traveling devices that allowed Deadpool to resurrect almost half of the current movie’s cast and the post-credit scene of ‘Deadpool 2’ implied that “Cable is going to kill Deadpool,” when he figures out what Wade has done.

We are disappointed to learn that Domino and Cable won’t be appearing in the movie, since they were pretty huge characters. But on the upside, Brolin recently mentioned that he has heard rumors about Thanos making his return to the MCU, so I guess that’s something.
