“War is on its way,” Loki says in the just-released trailer of the upcoming second season of ‘Loki.‘ The god of mischief doesn’t have the best of starts in the second season because he is ‘time slipping’ between different timelines, and his enemies from different times and the multiverse are on his trail. After the sweeping success of the six-episode first season, fans are eager to know who returns in ‘Loki’ Season 2.

Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki, with Owen Wilson playing Mobius as the two protagonists team up against the powerful threats. Jonathan Majors leads the antagonists as Victor Timely, one of the evil variants of Kang the Conqueror. Aaron Moorhead replaces Kate Herron as director in the second season, as she announced after the first season.

Another character set to play a big role in the six episodes of Season 2 is Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) after she unleashed the multiverse war in the first season. The TVA, including Hunter B-15 and a host of newcomers, also have big roles in the race to recover the Sacred Timeline, so let’s look at who is playing which role in ‘Loki’ Season 2.

Most of the main cast from the first season of ‘Loki’ return in Season 2, although some characters have their minds wiped because of the change in time. Others only return as variants of their first-season counterparts from the multiverse.

Loki

Tom Hiddleston returns as the lead playing the titular character of Loki. Unlike the first season, where he mostly worked to save himself, the second season makes him more of a hero as he has to save the multiverse.

Different variants of Loki are shown in the trailer, just as in the first season. Kid Loki is still played by Jack Veal, Boastful Loki by DeObia Oparei, and Classic Loki by Richard Grant.

Mobius

Owen Wilson returns as Mobius M. Mobius, the former TVA agent turned judge who is now working with Loki to save the multiverse after it branched into infinite timelines. Unlike Loki, Mobius is not fully aware of the threat posed by Kang at first in the Season 2 trailer.

Wilson played the same role in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania’, helping the Ant Family defeat Kang. However, in the trailer of ‘Loki’ Season 2, Mobius doesn’t seem to understand why Loki is afraid of Kang. It is possible he also had his mind wiped, but that remains to be seen when the show premiers.

OB

‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ star and Oscar winner Key Huy Quan is the newcomer to the second season of ‘Loki’ as the TVA archivist. In the trailer, Mobius approaches him for help with time slipping, and the two have a vibe.

OB in full is Ouroboros, and while its full meaning is unknown, OB looks like one of the good guys. However, according to the trailer, even he doesn’t have a cure for time slipping.

Hunter B-15

Wunmi Mosaku also returns as the no-nonsense TVA agent Hunter B-15 who is also eager to save the TVA. In Season 1, she discovered that her entire career at the agency was based on a lie, but in Season 2, she will fight to save the TVA and do some good for the multiverse.

Ravonna Renslayer

‘Summerland’ star Gugu Mbatha Raw also returns in her role as the former TVA judge Ravonna Renslayer. She doesn’t care about people as much as she does for the TVA, and her loyalty seems to be with whoever is in charge of the now-kidnapped agency. In the comics, she is Kang’s lover, and her rigidity might see her follow the same path in Loki’s second season.

Sylvie

Loki and Sylvie

Sophia Di Martino reprises the role of Lady Loki, aka Sylvie, who is not as interested in diplomacy and restraint as Tim Hiddleston’s character. Di Martino returns despite previous fears that her character might not have a place in the show’s second season.

According to the Synopsis, Sylvie is one of the people trapped in the multiverse alongside Ravonna Renslayer, and it is now her turn to be saved. Loki and Sylvie have also developed feelings for each other, and she could still be his love interest in the second season.

Miss Minutes

Voiced by Tara Strong, Miss Minutes is one of the most important characters in Loki, and Strong is expected to keep voicing the role. Like Renslayer and Sylvie, Minutes is lost in the multiverse at the beginning of the second season.

Kang the Conqueror

Victor Timely is the variant of Kang the Conqueror that takes over the TVA in ‘Loki’ Season 2 after Sylvie killed He Who Remains in the first season. Kang is the new MCU ultimate villain, as his variants from the multiverse now ravage the multiverse. Jonathan Majors plays all Kang variants, with Timely being the most dreaded of the two variants.

Other characters

Other characters expected to return in the second season of Loki are Casey, the TVA receptionist, aka Hunter K-5E, portrayed by Eugene Cordero.

The new season will also see a host of newcomers, including a new evil variant of Loki played by ‘Game of Thrones’ star Kate Dickie. More details on Dickie’s role haven’t been given, but she is believed to be another villain seeking to destroy the new timeline created by TVA.

‘Blindspotting’ star Rafael Casal is also expected to make his MCU debut in ‘Loki’ Season 2, playing the role of Zaniac, another villain that Loki has to face.

Directors and writers

Aaron Moorhead executive produces ‘Loki’ Season 2 after Kate Herron’s exit, supported by Justin Benson. Moorhead became an MCU favorite after his work on two episodes of Moon Knight.

Eric Martin, who co-wrote the first season, took over as the lead writer for the second season. Michael Waldron, the lead writer in Season 1, also cowrites Season 2.

Does He Who Remains return in ‘Loki’ Season 2?

Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains in Loki

Despite Jonathan Majors returning in ‘Loki’ Season 2, there is no indication from the trailer that He Who Remains will return. The less-dangerous version of Kang has not been seen in the MCU since Sylvie killed him in Season 1.

The dangerous variants he had prevented from being created by maintaining the sacred timeline were unleashed after his death. In Loki Season 2, the TVA is taken over by one of the Kangs called Victor Timely.

Unlike He Who Remains, who created the TVA to maintain order in the multiverse, Victor Timely exploits the agency to unleash chaos. The extent of destruction planned by Timely is yet to be revealed, but he is one of the most dangerous villains ever introduced to the MCU.

However, the multiverse has infinite possibilities, and one of them could include the return of He Who Remains, or at least a variant of him, who seeks to stop the carnage by reestablishing the sacred timeline.
