Share:

Not many topics are more popular amongst comic book movie fans than fan castings. Marvel & DC fans just can’t stop connecting their favorite actors with the roles of superheroes (and villains) who still haven’t gotten a chance to appear on a big screen (or just need a recast).

We’ve been collecting fans casting on Marvel & DC roles for a while now and came up with a list of the most interesting ones! Some are actually pretty good, while other, well, fans just love to hate them!

Halle Bailey as Storm

Halle Bailey has proven she can carry a lead role and has the screen presence needed to portray one of the most popular X-Men of all time. This is why fans often cast her in the role of Ororo Munroe aka Storm. Besides, due to her lead role in ‘The Little Mermaid,’ she is already close to Disney and has the potential to attract new fans to the franchise!

Rami Malek as Beyonder

Rami Malek could potentially make a great Beyonder. His on-screen presence is certainly memorable and his roles are often enigmatic and mysterious. His past performances, such as his roles in Mr. Robot and Bohemian Rhapsody, demonstrate his ability to handle a wide range of emotions and complex storylines which is really important to bring a bizarre character like Beyonder to life.

Travis Fimmel as Ghost Rider

Fimmel has a rugged edge and intensity that could suit the Ghost Rider’s dark and brooding nature. He also has a physical appearance to match Johnny Blaze in his human form. This is likely what fans were taking into account when they were suggesting Fimmel as prime choice for the role.

Sam Witwer as Doctor Doom

Sam Witwer has plenty of experience in fantasy franchises, he took part in ‘Smallville,’ and ‘Supergirl,’ but also voiced various villains in various Star Wars installments. Doctor Doom requires an actor who can command the screen with charisma, intelligence, and a certain level of menace, qualities that Witwer has demonstrated in his roles. This is why fans often single him out as one of the choices for Dr. Doom!

Jason Momoa as Sabretooth

Recently, it’s been confirmed that Liev Schrieber will reprise his role as Sabretooth in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ However, if the MCU wants to have its own version of the character, fans have pitched none other than Jason Momoa. Sabretooth requires a blend of physicality, menace, and occasional complexity, traits that Momoa undoubtedly has.

Ana de Armas as Spider-Woman

Ana de Armas proved her vast acting range in ‘Knives Out,’ ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ and ‘No Time to Die.’ Her roles in action films show that she can handle the physical demands of a superhero role. She also bears resemblance to several characters that held the Spider-Woman mantle.

Chloë Grace Moretz as Spider-Gwen

Moretz has a strong background in action and superhero genres, having starred in movies like “Kick-Ass” and “Kick-Ass 2. Her youthful appearance and charming demeanor make her a fan favorite when ti comes to the role of Spider-Gwen. We can totally see why she’s been number 1 fan cast for the role for years now.

Margot Robbie as Emma Frost

While Emma Frost is typically depicted as having a colder demeanor (pun intended), Robbie usually plays fiery and charismatic characters, but, the actress also has experience playing layered manipulators, which would serve well for portraying Emma Frost. She is also gorgeous and physically resembles the character, Emma Frost often uses her sex-appeal to further her goals!

Maya Hawke as Rogue

Maya Hawke does not have much experience in superhero roles. But what she lacks in experience she certainly makes up for in her resemblance to the character. Well, at least when Hawke’s fans are concerned.

Liam Hemsworth as Cyclops

Cyclops is known for his leadership qualities, strong moral compass, and his ability to emit powerful optic blasts. Liam Hemsworth has shown his ability to portray strong, principled characters in his roles, which could translate well to Cyclops’ character traits. This is why fans considering him perfect to inherit live-action mantle from Marsden.

Karl Urban as Wolverine

Urban is no stranger to superhero roles, fantasy, and sci-fi movies in general. He has a rugged, intense appearance that aligns well with Wolverine’s character from the comics—a tough, gritty persona with a strong presence. Since Urban is one of the most famous faces in action roles, it’s no wonder that he’s fandom considers him to be a perfect choice for Wolverine.

Amy Adams as Jean Grey

Adams is no stranger to the superhero genre, having played Lois Lane in the DCEU, her performance however received mixed reviews especially in terms of her chemistry with Cavill’s Superman. Depending on the direction the filmmakers want to take with Jean Grey, Adams brings a maturity to the role that could align with a more seasoned portrayal of the character. Adams also physically looks like the character.

Mark Strong as Silver Surfer

When Julia Garner was announced as MCU’s Silver Surfer in the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ movie, it almost broke the internet. The majority of fans were enraged that Norrin Radd was sidelined in favor of DEI. However, according to some rumors, Norrin will indeed appear in the movie. We can’t even begin guessing who will be playing him, but fans have recommended Mark Strong. Strong appeared as Sinestro in ‘Green Lantern,’ and as Doctor Thaddeus Sivana in both ‘Shazam’ movies released under the DCEU banner, so it’s not like he lacks the experience when it comes to playing superpowered characters.

Henry Cavill as Beyonder

Cavill si often fan-cast for different MCU characters such as Cyclops or Doctor Doom, but one interesting fan casting that resurfaced is that of Beyonder. Beyonder is rumored to join the MCU in ‘Secret Wars’ of course, and some fans consider Cavill to be perfect for the role. He certainly has an imposing physical presence to pull it off, and a physical likeness.

Natalie Dormer as Enchantress

Enchantress is a character who commands attention with her presence and mystical allure. One of her greatest strengths is her stunning beauty and her power to command power over other characters based on her beauty. This is oddly similar to Dormer’s character in ‘Game of Thrones’ Margaery Tyrell, a would-be-queen whose family gambled everything on her beauty and allure. This is why Dormer is the perfect casting choice for Amora.

Jensen Ackles as Ghost Rider

Jensen Ackles is fan-cast in plenty of superhero roles but one of the most specific (and well-suited) is probably as Ghost Rider. He would be well-suited for the role of Ghost Rider because of his ability to portray complex, brooding characters with a hint of darkness. His previous roles, such as Dean Winchester in ‘Supernatural,’ have showcased his range in handling supernatural themes and intense emotional arcs.

Amber Heard as Emma Frost

Emma Frost is known for her striking appearance and blonde hair, which aligns with Amber Heard’s physical attributes. Heard has also demonstrated versatility in her acting career (and private life), which could translate well to portraying the complex and sometimes morally ambiguous character of Emma Frost. Casting Heard could draw interest from fans who appreciate her previous work.

Yvonne Strahovski as Emma Frost

Yvonne Strahovski is recognized for her standout performances in several notable roles. She portrayed Sarah Walker in the TV series ‘Chuck,’ Serena Joy Waterford in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ and Hannah McKay in ‘Dexter.’ Yvonne Strahovski would be an ideal choice to play Emma Frost in the MCU for several reasons. First, she bears quite a resemblance to the character, and second, she has experience portraying morally ambiguous characters. One of her greatest strengths in acting are her ability to portray both intelligent and manipulative person.

Madelyn Cline as Rogue

Madelyn Cline has been acting since 2011 but the actress rose to sudden prominence with her roles in ‘Boy Erased,’ Glass Onion,’ ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Outer Banks.’ Cline has shown her range in different roles, from the adventurous Sarah Cameron in “Outer Banks” to more dramatic performances. This versatility is crucial for portraying Rogue’s complex character, who struggles with her powers and identity.

This is likely why Cline is one of the top picks for the role of Rogue when it comes to fans.

Alexandra Daddario as Rogue

Alexandra Daddario has had several notable roles in both film and television, starting with the ‘Percy Jackson’ adaptation, ‘True Detective, and ‘The White Lotus.’ She is however oddly absent from superhero roles unless you count voicing Lois Lane in ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ and ‘Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths.’

Now fans want to see Daddario in the MCU, as none other than Rogue. Daddario has striking physical features that could match Rogue’s iconic look from the comics. Her piercing blue eyes and dark hair (which she could dye to include Rogue’s signature white streak) would help her visually embody the character.

Ella Balinska as Black Cat

Balinska’s most notable roles are those from ‘Charlie’s Angel’s’ (2019) and ‘Resident Evil’ (2022). She proved that she can handle both action roles and emotional roles. Her stunning figure is also one of the reasons why fans would love to see her as Black Cat.

The top contender is still Sydney Sweeney, still Ella Balinska is worth taking into consideration as well.

Jason Isaacs as Magneto

I have to admit this fan casting heavily depends on Jason Isaacs rocking that white wig. The actor is probably most known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter film series, but he really would be a good fit for Magneto since he already has experience playing a villain, and has voiced numerous superheroes (and villains) in animated projects.

Ian Somerhalder as Beyonder

Beyonder is rumored to appear as a villain in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ and although this information was not confirmed by official sources, fans already decided to fan-cast several popular faces to play him. The top choice landed on Ian Somerhalder, most notably known for his roles in The Vampire Diaries, V-Wars, Interns, and Young Americans.

He looks like Beyonder and also knows how to play Sardonic characters.

Millie Bobby Brown as Kitty Pryde

Brown rose to global fame with her role in ‘Stranger Things,’ and since then fans have been consistently fan-casting her as Kitty Pryde. Kitty Pryde is often depicted as a young, vibrant character. Millie’s youthful energy and charisma make her a great fit. With the upcoming live-action X-Men reboot on the horizon, who knows?

Hayden Christensen as Doctor Doom

Christensen made a grand return last year to his most notable role, that of Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader in the first season of ‘Ahsoka.’ Rumors have it that the actor will reprise his role, although with much more screen time and a larger overall role in the show. While we wait for ‘Ahsoka’ season 2, fans have been speculating how great Christensen would be in the MCU as Doctor Doom. Christensen already proved that he can carry the most iconic fictional villain with relative ease.

Keanu Reeves as Ghost Rider

Keanu Reeves has earned a reputation as one of the kindest actors in Hollywood, yet he’s no stranger to action and supernatural roles. Since his appearance in ‘Constantine,’ fans have often imagined him as a perfect fit for the role. With rumors circulating about a Ghost Rider movie or Midnight Sons-focused project, this fantasy might soon become a reality. Reeves possesses the brooding and dark persona needed to excel in such a role.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Doctor Doom

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is in recent times, most popular for portraying Jaime Lannister from planetary popular TV show ‘Game of Thrones.’ While his tenure on the show ended with the final season, ever since then fans have been imagining him as Doctor Doom through various fan art and concept trailers. Waldau won’t be the first ‘Game of Thrones’ character to crossover to the MCU as both Kit Harington and Richard Madden portrayed characters in ‘Eternals.’

Waldau has both the range and physique to play the popular villain. He is just sympathetic enough to make for a perfect “grey” character in every sense of the word.

Johnny Depp as Mephisto

Mephisto was so far only mentioned in the MCU, but as the studio focuses on magic, Midnight Sons, and similar themes, chances are big he’s going to debut soon. Johnny Depp is by far the most popular fan-casting for the character, and now that the actor is once again in the good graces of Disney, it might happen.

Dev Patel as Kang the Conqueror

When Jonathan Majors was accused of assault by his former flame, we knew that the studio had two choices at that point, recast Kang or eliminate Kang as the villain completely. When Majors was found guilty and sentenced to probation, this only confirmed speculations.

Now apparently studio is moving forward with Kang but the character will likely be recast and fans have put forward none other than Dev Patel. Patel was also in the running to play Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards before the role ultimately went to Pedro Pascal.

Giancarlo Esposito as Doom

Giancarlo Esposito is TV’s most popular villain in recent times ever since ‘Breaking Bad.’ The actor stated several months ago that he would like to play Professor X, before announcing to the world he has been cast in the MCU but not as Professor X. He also stated that his character will get its own MCU show. Naturally, since fans have been speculating for quite some time what a good Dr. Doom Esposito would have been, we can only hope that this is indeed the role he was cast in.

Keke Palmer as Rogue

Keke has been a number-one fan casting for the role for quite some time now. Since the rumors of X-Men finally being introduced to the MCU via their own live-action project are getting louder, it’s not so unreasonable to expect that Keke is being eyed for the role of one of the most notable mutants. Keke herself even acknowledged the fan cast via fan art that showcases her as the mutant.

Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider

Ryan Gosling himself stated on several instances that he would like to play MCU’s Ghost Rider, and well the fans did the rest. According to reports, Gosling was already cast in some kind of mysterious role in the MCU, and there are also reports of the Ghost Rider project being in the works, you connect the dots. Several months ago, Gosling was rumored to play Nova in the upcoming live-action show.

Sydney Sweeney already has one superhero role behind her, but it didn’t end so great. Now fans are hoping that Sydney will get another chance to play a superpowered character in the MCU, as Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat, anti-hero/villaines and ally of Spider-Man. The latest rumors that Sweeney was cast in the role certainly further helped matters.

Henry Cavill as Cyclops

Fans have been speculating about DCEU’s Superman joining the MCU for quite some time. At first, he was connected with the introduction of Captain Britain in the MCU, but lately, after the release of ‘X-Men 97’ and the upcoming ‘X-Men’ MCU reboot, more and more fans are expressing their interest in seeing Henry Cavill as the new Cyclops! Also, there are quite a few rumors talking about that!

Miley Cyrus as Rogue

After years of waiting for good ‘X-Men’ related content, we finally got what we were waiting for – ‘X-Men 97’! The remake of 1992’s ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ was an absolute hit among the Marvel fans! Following that and the release of the upcoming ‘X-Men’ live-action reboot, fans are giving their ideas for the roles of our favorite Mutants! By far, one of the most popular ones is Miley Cyrus as Rogue. This will hardly happen, but still, every time someone mentions Miley joining the ranks of the ‘X-Men’, social platforms start getting hot!

Josh Holloway as Wolverine

Many different actors played the roles of Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman over the years. But one guy stood above the time all the way since 2000, Hugh Jackman, aka Wolverine. After two decades of playing Wolverine, everyone thought he was done – and what does Hugh Jackman do? He plays Wolverine once again in the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ – 24 years since he first took on “the mantle.” A legend! Still, at some point, we will probably see a new Wolverine, and recently, ‘Lost’s Josh Holloway is one of the names that pops out pretty often!
