Marvel’s Next Vision-Focused Series Reportedly Set to Introduce Jocasta, Ultron’s Bride

Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest is adding new faces to its cast, including the introduction of Jocasta, a cybernetic character from the comics, according to rumors. The show continues to build its roster of robotic and AI-driven characters, and fans are excited to see how Jocasta will fit into the story.

Jocasta was created by Jim Shooter and George Perez in 1977, making her first appearance in The Avengers (1963) #162. Jocasta was originally built by Ultron, the villainous AI, to be his bride, similar to how Frankenstein created his bride.

Her programming was modeled after the brain patterns of Janet Pym (also known as the Wasp), whom Ultron tried to drain of life to bring Jocasta to consciousness. However, the Avengers stopped his plan, and Hank Pym (Ant-Man) took Jocasta’s inactive body. Eventually, he brought her to life, and over time, Jocasta became a recurring member of the Avengers, proving herself as a hero.

Jocasta is known for her cunning and intelligence. She’s powerful, determined, and often motivated by revenge, especially when dealing with Ultron’s manipulative ways.

The identity of the actress playing Jocasta in Vision Quest remains a secret, but Marvel Studios reportedly wanted to cast a Black actress in her 40s-60s for the role. This suggests that the series may present Jocasta as a contemporary of Ultron, played by James Spader, who is also returning for the series.

This choice of casting hints that Jocasta and Ultron may have a shared history. While it’s unclear how Ultron will return in the series, there’s speculation that he may have been rebuilt long before the events of Vision Quest. This could explain how Jocasta came into existence and why she might already have a connection with Ultron.

Vision Quest is currently filming in London and is set to wrap production in June this year. The series was created by Terry Matalas, who also serves as showrunner, producer, and director. Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision, while James Spader returns as Ultron. Faran Tahir will also be back as Raza. Additionally, Ruaridh Mollica and Todd Stashwick have joined the cast in undisclosed roles.

The series is expected to premiere in 2026 on Disney+ as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
