‘Minecraft Movie’ Hits $721M Worldwide, While ‘Sinners’ Scares Up $61M Globally

A Minecraft Movie, from Warner Bros. and Legendary, keeps building big numbers. Over the Easter holidays and school break, the movie had a strong third weekend. It earned $59 million from 76 countries. That brings the international total to $376.2 million. Adding U.S. earnings, the movie has now made $720.8 million worldwide.
Even after three weekends, the Minecraft movie is still going strong. It dropped only 28% from last weekend. It will open in South Korea and Japan next, which could push its numbers even higher.
Some countries where it’s doing especially well include:
- United Kingdom – $59.2M
- Germany – $27.8M
- Australia – $27.4M
- Mexico – $24.8M
- China – $24M
Holiday audiences helped the movie stay popular, and some places even saw increases in ticket sales, like Denmark and Singapore.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. also released a new horror movie, Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan. The movie opened in 71 international markets and earned $15.4 million overseas. It did even better in the U.S., bringing its total opening weekend to $61 million worldwide.
Sinners is getting strong reviews and good word of mouth. People are enjoying it, especially in Europe and Latin America. In fact, it became the first horror movie ever to get an “A” grade from CinemaScore.

- Mexico – $1.1M
- Germany – $898K
- Australia – $842K
In Latin America, horror fans showed up in big numbers. In Mexico, it beat other horror hits like Get Out and Us by a big margin.
Sinners was also shown in IMAX and made $11.1 million globally in that format, including $2 million overseas.
Another movie, The Amateur from 20th Century and Disney, added $11.6 million in its second weekend. It has now made $64.3 million worldwide, with top markets being the UK, France, Mexico, Japan, and Spain.
The global box office is alive and well, with family-friendly hits like Minecraft and spooky thrillers like Sinners keeping audiences excited.
