Netflix’s Korean series Teach You a Lesson has become a global streaming hit shortly after its release.

The series premiered on Netflix on June 5, and quickly climbed to the top of the platform’s global rankings. According to FlixPatrol data, it has reached the position of most-watched series worldwide, marking a strong international performance just days after launch.

The show is based on the Naver webtoon Get Schooled by Chae Yong-taek and Han Ga-ram. It mixes school drama with action and follows a harsh and intense story about discipline, authority, and violence inside the education system. The story is set in a world where school violence has become a serious national issue and traditional discipline has failed.

To deal with the crisis, the South Korean government creates a special organization called the Educational Rights Protection Bureau. This group is allowed to use extreme methods to control violent students and restore order in schools. The main character, Na Hwa-jin, is an inspector who travels between schools to handle dangerous situations and break up student gangs.

The series stars Kim Mu-yeol as Na Hwa-jin. Other main cast members include Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo, and Pyo Ji-hoon. Each character plays a role in the bureau’s mission, forming a team that deals with different school conflicts across the country.

The story shows a very aggressive and emotional view of school life. It focuses on problems like bullying, corruption, and lack of authority. Because of its strong themes and action-heavy scenes, viewers have described it in very emotional terms online. Many fans say the show feels intense and fast-paced, with some calling it “pure dopamine” because of how engaging and addictive it is.

The series has performed strongly not just in Korea but globally. Reports show it has entered Netflix’s Top 10 lists in more than 85 countries, including the United States, Japan, India, Canada, Australia, and the Philippines. In South Korea, it also gained strong attention, with cast rankings and online buzz rising quickly after release.

The show also sparked discussion because of its violent subject matter and moral questions. Some critics praised it for showing the emotional reality of teachers and students dealing with burnout, pressure, and neglect. Others questioned its use of state-approved violence as a solution, saying it creates ethical tension in how the story presents justice.

Reviews have been mixed but active. Some outlets praised the performances and emotional impact, especially the lead actor’s strong presence in action scenes. Others pointed out that the show sometimes feels uncomfortable due to its extreme methods, even if the storytelling is engaging.

Despite debate, the series has clearly connected with a large audience. Its fast rise on streaming charts shows strong viewer interest in darker school-based dramas with high emotional intensity.

At the moment, the success of Teach You a Lesson has already led to growing talk about a possible second season, although no official announcement has been made. For now, it remains one of Netflix’s most talked-about international hits of 2026.
