Marvel Producer Explains How Characters Are Integrated into ‘Agatha All Along’ and Other MCU Projects
After successfully weaving its movies into a unified narrative, the MCU has expanded into television, with several series now part of the official canon.
Managing so many stories and characters within a single, cohesive universe is no small task, making it fascinating to learn more about the creative process behind this ambitious project.
In a recent interview, Marvel producer Brad Winderbaum discussed the current series Agatha All Along and shed light on some intriguing aspects of the production, including the challenges of integrating multiple characters into a single storyline while preserving continuity.
The interview, conducted by ScreenRant, offered several interesting insights. In this article, we’ll highlight key details, particularly those related to character integration. So, if you’re curious to learn more, keep reading!
As mentioned earlier, the ScreenRant interview was quite insightful, with one of the key topics being how various characters are seamlessly integrated into a storyline. Brad Winderbaum, one of Marvel’s leading producers, shared some fascinating details about this process. Here’s what he had to say:
There are a lot of new characters in this show that I instantly fell in love with. The MCU TV has done a lot to give characters solo projects after being entry points in previous iterations, like Agatha All Along and WandaVision and Ironheart and Black Panther 2. Is there any specific, already established characters being looked at in that same light?
Brad Winderbaum: We’re developing more than we make now, so we actually have a few different things brewing that we might see through to at least a pilot script to see if we want to make it.
But, yeah, there’s a lot of opportunity out there, it’s hard to choose favorites. I’m a fan, so I want to make struggles about freaking everything, but we’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.
Considering how often Disney+ shows set up huge storylines in the MCU like Loki for Deadpool & Wolverine, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier [for] Captain America 4, how exciting or difficult is it for you to integrate these into the expanded MCU?
Brad Winderbaum: I think it’s about audience obligation and there’s a sense that you need to watch everything in order to watch anything. We’re trying to break that spell. We want it to be more like the comics. Are you’re an X-Men guy? Are you a Ghost Rider guy? Are you a Gwen Stacy guy?
There’s something for everybody, and you can go into the genres and tones that you want without feeling like you need to know every single thing about everything in order to enjoy.
It’s interesting, you said Ghost Rider too….I’m just saying! Currently, there’s a lot about what’s coming for Phase 6, with The Multiverse Saga coming to an end. How much more is there still left to reveal, considering there’s only three years left until [Avengers:] Secret Wars, which is likely going to close out that entire saga?
Brad Winderbaum: I think that’s [what] Secret Wars is going to be an amazing culmination to the saga. I think it’s going to make the journey feel like it was a worthwhile.
