Sneak Peek Video Released for ‘Eyes of Wakanda’: Dive Into the Untold Black Panther Adventures

The first look at Eyes of Wakanda, the new Black Panther spinoff from Disney+ and Marvel Animation, is finally here. The four-episode animated series is set to premiere on August 27th, and fans are getting their best glimpse yet at this exciting adventure.
The showrunner and director Todd Harris shared some insights earlier this summer about what viewers can expect, and now the official sneak peek and images have been released.
Eyes of Wakanda follows brave Wakandan warriors across different points in history as they take on dangerous missions to recover Vibranium artifacts stolen by their enemies. These warriors are known as the Hatut Zaraze, and the series tells their story.
The voice cast features Winnie Harlow, known from America’s Next Top Model, as Noni, and Cress Williams, famous for Black Lightning, as the Lion. Other talented voices include Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, and Zeke Alton. Also joining the cast are Anika Noni Rose, who voiced Tiana in The Princess and the Frog, and Steve Toussaint from House of the Dragon.
During a presentation at Annecy, Harris shared that the first episode, titled Into the Lion’s Den, takes place in 1260 BC. It centers on Noni, a disgraced former member of the Dora Milaje, who is tasked with tracking down the Lion.
The Lion is a former Wakandan guard who stole important technology and formed his own pirate crew made up of fighters from all over the world. Each episode of the four-part series stands alone, but a key connection is how the Lion’s actions affect Wakanda across time.
Harris also teased the appearance of a character related to Iron Fist, saying, “There will be an Iron Fist in here, and not the Iron Fist you expect.” He described the series as “anthology adjacent,” with the story revolving around someone taking what doesn’t belong to them and Wakanda’s effort to get it back. But it’s not just about action; it’s also about showing the dedication of Wakandan society to its country’s future. Harris said, “Wakanda is a 3,000-year-old society. They have a very succinct self-identity, and they’re preserving that.”
He added that the show lets viewers see the strength and patience of Wakandans as they work to protect their secrets and culture over centuries. “Everybody in Wakanda is like a physicist… you see their patience over centuries to see work that they will never be able to see get finished, but they believe in their mission as a culture,” Harris explained.
Ryan Coogler, the director and executive producer of the Black Panther films, gave the creative team a lot of freedom to explore Wakanda’s history. Harris revealed, “Ryan really just let us go hog wild. He was very inspirational.” The team imagined what might have happened if Wakandans led the Sea People during the Bronze Age, a mysterious and violent group known for raiding others.
Eyes of Wakanda is directed by Todd Harris and executive produced by Ryan Coogler along with Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, and Proximity Media’s Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Kalia King.
