Spanish Sci-Fi ‘Pacifico’ Unveils First Look and Fans Say It Feels Like ‘Alien’ All Over Again
A first teaser has been released for the Spanish-language sci-fi film Pacifico, and it is already getting attention for its strong resemblance to classic alien-style survival stories. The film is presented by FilmSharks and will be shown to international buyers at the Cannes Market.
The movie stars Gabi de Faria (Superman), Manolo Cardona (Narcos), Christopher Von Uckermann (Rebelde), Claudio Cataño (Cien años de soledad), Ricardo Abarca (Que Culpa Tiene el Niño), and Maria Nela Sinisterra (Corazon de Leon).
According to the official description, Pacifico follows a group of young travelers who end up stranded on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. Once there, they discover a dangerous hidden force that has existed on Earth for a very long time, something unknown to most of humanity.
The film is directed by Gonzalo Gutierrez and produced by Mauricio Brunetti and Guido Rud from the Buenos Aires-based company FilmSharks. Florencia Lemoine serves as executive producer. The company says the project is one of its biggest productions so far.
Guido Rud spoke about the film’s scale and ambition, saying it aims to push Spanish-language science fiction into new territory.
“This is the biggest and most ambitious science fiction theatrical film ever made in Spanish, where we created a spaceship world and universe where we worked to naturally mix narrative layers,” Rud said.
He also explained that the film is not only about aliens or monsters, but about deeper ideas tied to Earth’s history and unknown visitors.
“Pacifico is about so much more than Alien Space Ships and monsters: it’s about how we understand that this is an old planet with so many hidden truths and untold stories of how visitors were more often than imagined. Top-tier buyers are chasing this title, and we aim to announce many key territories shortly,” he added.
The teaser shows a tense survival setup and hints at a larger sci-fi mystery unfolding around the stranded group. With its isolated setting and unseen threat, many viewers online have already pointed out similarities to well-known sci-fi survival films.
Pacifico is currently being positioned for international distribution, with further announcements expected after its Cannes Market presentation.
