Outlander is a historical fantasy drama based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series. The show follows Claire Randall, played by CaitrÃona Balfe, a World War II nurse who is mysteriously transported from 1945 back to 1743 Scotland, where she falls in love with Highland warrior Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan. Premiering on Starz in 2014, the series ran for eight seasons and became known for blending romance, history, war, and time travel. The franchise is continuing with the upcoming prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which focuses on the parents of Claire and Jamie.
