Uwe Boll (Filmmaker)
Uwe Boll is a German director, producer, and screenwriter who became widely known in the 2000s for adapting popular video game franchises into films. Movies such as House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and BloodRayne were heavily criticized by reviewers and are often cited among the worst video game adaptations ever made. After spending much of the 2010s releasing films directly to home video, Boll retired from filmmaking in 2016 to focus on the restaurant business. He later returned to directing in 2022 and has continued producing independent films through his own production companies.
