DC’s latest movie ‘The Flash’ underperformed at the box office during the opening weekend, and there’s no telling how many more box-office bombs can Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios endure. The studio found itself awkward since we still have two more DC movies left to be released this year, but it seems that the audience doesn’t care about movies set in the dying franchise.

As we already know, DCEU will officially conclude this December with ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ after that, we are waiting for the soft-reboot cinematic universe called DCU, which will kick off in July 2025 with James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy.’ Apart from introducing a new Superman, DCU will also introduce a new Batman after Ben Affleck had his last appearance in ‘The Flash.’ Robert Pattinson will still return in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman — Part II,’ but that’s totally separate thing.

Jensen Ackles says he would love to play DCU’s Batman!

Playing World’s Greatest Detective has always been a privilege for actors in the superhero genre, although history is teaching us that no matter which actor is named as the new Batman, a good part of Batman fans will disagree with the casting choice until the actor’s debut as Batman on the big screen. While we know that James Gunn wanted to have a younger actor for Superman in DCU, we don’t know what’s his plan for Batman in DCU.

Jensen Ackles, who is best known for the role of Dean Winchester in ‘Supernatural’ and Soldier Boy in the third season of ‘The Boys’ has recently addressed the rumors that he could portray the next live-action Batman.

“I don’t know. Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I want to do it? Yes.”

Ackles is known as a big fan of the superhero genre. He previously voiced Jason Todd, aka Red Hood, in ‘Batman: Under the Red Hood.’ He also voiced Batman in the two-part animated adaptation of ‘Batman: The Long Halloween,’ this year’s ‘Legion of Super-Heroes,’ and the upcoming ‘Justice League: Warworld.’

Ben Affleck played DCEU’s Batman, who was already very much experienced in crime-fighting. We need to admit that it’s rather odd to introduce an older Batman in the cinematic universe that was once supposed to run for a very long time. On the other hand, Batman’s first DCU movie, ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ won’t introduce just him but also his son Damien Wayne/Robin, which means that DCU certainly won’t begin Batman’s story from his parent’s death again as Christopher Nolan did in his acclaimed ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy.

‘The Flash’ director Andy Muschietti has signed to direct ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ The movie’s release date is still TBA.
