Upcoming ‘Blade’ Reboot Reportedly Gets a Massive Casting Update

Marvel has plenty of projects bound to be released in the next few years, and we know that most of these projects have been stuck in a sort of limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry as a whole, causing plenty of projects to be both delayed or altogether canceled. 

One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an MCU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today. 

Recently the movie has received plenty of unofficial development updates. The latest rumors state that Blade’s daughter is out of the movie, the movie is no longer being developed as a period piece and the planned filming has been moved from the USA to London, with the movie being expected to be released in 2025.

For some time now, we knew that Mahershala Ali would star as the titular vampire hunter. John West Jr. will play DEE, while Delroy Lindo, Milan Ray, and Mia Goth are cast as to-be-confirmed characters. If Jeff Sneider is to be believed via his paid newsletter this is soon about to change.

According to the report, the studio is about to recast the movie entirely, with the exception of Mahershala Ali.

This claim supports other rumors that the movie is being pushed in another direction with much of its story rewritten. Recasting characters is nothing new for this project as Aaron Pierre recently revealed that he was at one point involved with the project but due to the development hell and other unconfirmed reasons he decided to drop out.

Why the movie is being reworked to such an extent? We don’t know. However, there were some reports that Ali was unhappy with the script and was willing to even walk away from the projects. There were also rumors that DeMayo was involved with the script and delivered unsatisfying results.
