In early 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran presented their own new rebooted universe dubbed DCU and presented a full slate of projects. The last movie released within the DCEU was last year’s ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ which was somewhat of a success when you take into account that nearly all MCU movies released that year failed both when it comes to critics and when it comes to the box office.

In January, Gunn and Safran introduced the initial projects of the DCU slate, revealing the team of writers involved in crafting the overarching story: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson, Christal Henry, and Tom King. They outlined a plan spanning eight to ten years, divided into “chapters,” with potential for further expansion. The first chapter, ‘Gods and Monsters,’ included films like ‘Superman’ (originally titled ‘Superman: Legacy’), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing,’ alongside television series like ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Waller,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold.’

Recently James Gunn confirmed that some of the scripts are finished, but didn’t elaborate on the projects attached to them. Gunn also confirmed that he didn’t work on those finished scripts, at least not all of them. so far we can confirm that the scripts for ‘Superman,’ ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ are finished, Daniel Richtman notable scooper & leaker confirmed that the finished scripts in question are ‘Lanterns’ & ‘Waller.’

‘Waller’ is supposed to begin shooting this year, back-to-back with the second season of ‘Peacemaker.’ ‘Waller’ was confirmed to be in development back in 2022 as a spinoff of ‘Peacemaker’, with Viola Davis reprising her role as the titular character, recently it’s been confirmed that the show will not be comedy-oriented as ‘Peacemaker’ as Waller is much more serious character, and the show will try to reflect that tone.

As far as ‘Lanterns’ go, little is known about that project except that it will be a cosmic-detective story. Three notable Green Lanterns will be appearing in the show, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner, with only Nathan Filion being confirmed to play Guy Gardner. The question of who will play John Stewart still remains unanswered.
