One major character fans have been wanting to see brought back into Star Wars canon is Starkiller. Starkiller was the main protagonist of ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ and was the secret apprentice of Darth Vader. Fans noticed Witwer’s name in the credits of the first episode of ‘Ahsoka’ which led to a lot of speculation about Starkiller’s return. Is Sam Witwer playing Starkiller in ‘Ahsoka’? Here’s our theory!

With only two episodes left, it’s quite unlikely that Sam Witwer is playing Starkiller in ‘Ahsoka.’ Witwer has lent his voice to Star Wars projects throughout the years, so he may be simply just voicing another character. He likely voiced Marrok in the first few episodes, but that is yet to be confirmed.

Now that we have briefly discussed who Sam Witwer could be playing let’s analyze it in more detail! If you are interested in other characters that Witwer has played, who Starkiller is, and who Sam Witwer could be playing, stay with us and keep reading!

Starkiller is no longer canon

Starkiller was the main protagonist of ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed,’ a game released back in 2008. He was the apprentice of Darth Vader between ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope.’ Vader used him to hunt down the remaining Jedi that survived Order 66, but Starkiller would eventually turn good and work alongside the Rebels. The game is part of Legends and is no longer Canon to the main story.

Chances are slim that Sam Witwer is Starkiller

While it would be interesting to have Darth Vader’s apprentice going up against Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice, it is unlikely that Sam Witwer will play Starkiller in ‘Ahsoka.’ There are only two episodes left of the series, which will focus on the return of Thrawn and Ezra, so there would simply be no room to include Starkiller. Fans were speculating that Marrok was Starkiller, but that was disregarded when Ahsoka killed Marrok, and he was revealed to be the magic of the Nightsisters.

Who has Sam Witwer played in Star Wars?

Darth Maul Clone Wars

Witwer has played multiple characters in the franchise and is known for being a massive fan. He got his start in Star Wars when he was cast as Starkiller for ‘Force Unleashed’ and went on to play multiple characters in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ He is more notable for playing Darth Maul but also played Darth Sidious. He has also played various extra voices, becoming a prominent part of the franchise and loved by fans.

Who could Sam Witwer be playing in Ahsoka?

It is possible Sam Witwer doesn’t have a major role in ‘Ahsoka.’ It’s likely he just voices a background character or could even make a cameo in the last couple of episodes. Since he has voiced Darth Maul, it would be a nice surprise to fans if he returned to voice the character in a flashback.

Even though we have already had flashbacks to the Clone Wars, we may get more of the Siege of Mandalore, where Maul was present. In one of the trailers, we hear a line from Anakin, which we didn’t hear when he appeared in episode five, which makes it likely for more flashbacks. In these flashbacks, we could see Maul if it explores his duel with Ahsoka, and with the Nightsisters being prominent in the series, it would be no surprise if we even just heard a single line from Darth Maul.

Could Starkiller ever be brought into canon?

starkiller 3

As great as it would be, Starkiller is unlikely to get brought into canon in the way that we know him. There were talks of bringing him into ‘Star Wars Rebels’ as an Inquisitor, but they did not come to fruition. It seems Disney has no plans to bring him into the current canon, but Sam Witwer has also said he would happily return to the role, so no one knows what the future can bring!
