X-Men Are Slowly But Surely Getting Integrated into the MCU, Thanks To This Small But Official Change

Heres When We Can Reportedly Expect X Men To be Introduced to the MCU

In March 2019, Marvel Studios regained the film rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool after Disney’s acquisition of Fox for $71.3 billion.

These characters are planned to be integrated into the MCU. In October 2020, the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ films were rebranded as “Marvel Legacy films” on Disney+. Notably, Patrick Stewart already reprised his role as an alternate Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and Kelsey Grammer returned as Beast in ‘The Marvels’. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ a sequel to ‘Deadpool 2,’ will bring Deadpool and Wolverine, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively, into the MCU continuity.

MCU already has at least six mutants that we know of starting with Kamala Khan, who was also made mutant in the comics retconning her Inhuman origins, and with the most recent inclusion of Beast in the ‘The Marvels’ post-credit scenes. There’s also the fact that ‘X-Men ’97’ is widely popular, although they aren’t part of the official MCU canon but rather a part of Marvel Animated Multiverse.

With everything going down regarding ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ fans are speculating that it’s only a matter of a short time before X-Men are fully integrated into the MCU through other projects until their own standalone project is announced and released.

The most recent small change looks like it’s leading us in that direction, however.

Recently, xmenmovies Instagram page was officially renamed into xmenofficial. This is the Instagram account that 20th Century Fox used for all their ‘X-Men’ movies. Fans immediately began speculating that the account would be used more often and that this was the first step toward referencing X-Men in the MCU for real.

However, we recently covered some troubling updates on the future of X-Men-focused projects.

While fans are looking forward to X-Men being included as soon as possible and in large numbers, even more so after the premiere of X-Men ’97’ this allegedly won’t happen, at least not any time soon, according to Alex Perez in his recent Q&A. When asked when the notable team might debut he answered that it’s going to be a while.

It will be a while. And anyone expecting mutants (or X-Men) to suddenly come into the MCU after Deadpool & Wolverine will be sorely disappointed.

Then, a few weeks back, Production Weekly posted that ‘X-Men’ should start production in late 2025, which is quite a while from now, and verifies the reports we have written about last month.
