Batman vs. Spider-Man: Who Is Stronger & Who Would Win in a Fight?
Both Batman & Spider-Man are known to be iconic comic book characters with a storied history and some of the best feats imaginable. Despite their power sets being vastly different, the two have one thing in common, their intelligence. This is why we decided to pit two characters together to see who would ultimately come out on top. Let’s see when it comes to a fight between Batman & Spider-Man, who is more powerful, and who would win in the fight?
Spider-Man is stronger than Batman and would ultimately win the fight against him. He is more powerful, faster, and due to his high intelligence, Batman would have trouble devising a plan that would work against him. This doesn’t mean, however, that Batman wouldn’t, under some circumstances, manage to win against Spider-Man. It only means that Spider-Man would win the majority of the time.
Now that we’ve given you our brief answer, it’s time to analyze it in more detail. We’re going to compare the strength, stamina, speed, and other attributes of both characters, so you can see who would come out on top. Powers and abilities
Spider-Man is legendary for his arachnid-like abilities. He has access to wall-crawling and an extra sense popularly dubbed as spidey sense, which warns him of potential danger through a tingling sensation in his skull. Spidey sense might, in fact, be Spider-Man’s most popular ability since it allows him to avoid danger as much as possible and gives him a wide range of clairvoyant-like abilities, providing him with several hundredths of a second to react and avoid harm.
Peter also relies heavily on the technology he created himself, such as web shooters.
Batman doesn’t have any powers or abilities, but through long years of training and self-improvement, he managed to achieve what can only be considered peak physical performance, which allows him to do stuff that an otherwise average human cannot do. Even though he is not a superpowered individual, Batman has plenty of feats that testify that he can exceed the limits of humanly possible.
Spider-Man gets the point regarding powers and abilities since Batman officially doesn’t have any superhuman or supernatural powers.
Points: Spider-Man (1:0) Batman
Strength and Stamina
Due to his spider physiology, Spider-Man can lift vastly more than your average human can. It is estimated that he can lift anywhere between 3 and 25 tons, and this strength translates well to combat as well. He is one of the physically strongest Marvel superheroes. Spider-Man is not only extremely strong, but he can also exert himself at full strength for several hours before the effects of fatigue start kicking in. As such, it’s obvious that Peter has superhuman amounts of stamina at his disposal.
Even though he is only human, Batman can lift significantly more than you would have expected. Batman’s strength allows him to lift anywhere between 450 – 1000 lbs. This great difference is due to inconsistency in portraying the character over the years. Batman also has superhuman levels of stamina, on one instance fighting for 28 straight hours. All of this is possible due to numerous years of training and hard work, as Batman is among the physically strongest non-powered humans in the DC comics universe.
Even though Batman’s strength feats are impressive, Spider-Man is significantly physically stronger, and Batman simply can’t counter this.
Points: Spider-Man (2:0) Batman
Speed
Spider-Man is famous for his agility and incredible reflexes. His movements are so streamlined and advanced that he often appears to be flying between the buildings. It’s needless to say that Spider-Man can be extremely fast in combat and extremely agile. He is good at dodging as well. In terms of running, Spider-Man can run up to 700mph, which is faster than the human eye can follow. His athletic performance far surpasses even the finest human athletes.
Batman is not as fast, but his athletic performance is nevertheless extremely impressive. HE can run as fast as 40 miles per hour, in some instances even reaching more. Batman is, however, the fastest while he is in combat. In that case, he is extremely hard to follow and dodge, and his movements often appear blurry to untrained eyes. Batman was also, in several instances, able to outrun bullets and vehicles, which proves that he does bursts of superhuman speed on occasion.
No matter how fast Batman is both in combat and outside of it, he can’t measure up to Spider-Man. The point goes to Peter Parker.
Points: Spider-Man (3:0) Batman
Durability
Spider-Man is durable enough that he can withstand punches from the Hulk himself. This is due to his spider physiology, which provides him with tissues strong enough to tank even the most severe and lethal damage compared to average humans. Spider-Man frequently survives falling from great heights, which would prove deadly for the majority of Marvel superheroes, and he frequently tanks unseen levels of damage, especially dealt to him by his iconic villains.
Batman, like Spider-Man, has fought some of the most overpowered characters in DC comics and live to tell the tale, and even though he does peak human durability, he doesn’t have superhuman durability. Most of his durability stems from his gear, most notably Batsuits composed of Kevlar and a small percentage of titanium that gives him unapparelled levels of protection in combat, even against superhumans.
Batman is a tough nut to crack, but Spider-Man has physiology on his side. The point goes to him.
Points: Spider-Man (4:0) Batman
Intelligence
This comparison is often controversial, and fans of both characters are often at each other’s throats when comparing the intellects of both Batman and Spider-Man, so let’s analyze the numbers first.
Batman’s estimated IQ is 192, and this is according to one sketchy panel. Other sources claim that Batman’s IQ is likely higher than 210. Still, having an IQ of 197 is impressive enough and makes sense in the context, considering that Batman is the second smartest human in the DC comics Universe, followed only by Lex Luthor.
Batman has plenty of feats to showcase his intelligence, such as aviation, business management, chemistry, hacking, and disguise. He is a super genius with an eidetic memory who mostly relies on his own inventions in combat. Batman also excels as a leader and investigator, demonstrating proficiency in a wide range of technologies and weapons.
Spider-Man, on the other hand, has an IQ of 250 and is quite accomplished as well, taking into account his young age. The best example of his genius is the fact that he created much of the tech that he relies upon in his superhero efforts, like web shooters and web formulas. He excelled throughout his formal education and, from an early age, proved himself to be an extremely capable and talented inventor. He has been acknowledged by prestigious institutions like Horizon Labs and praised by brilliant minds like Hank Pym.
Now obviously, Spider-Man has better numbers, but Batman has undeniably better feats overall; due to this, the point goes to both of them.
Points: Spider-Man (5:1) Batman
Combat Skills
Spider-Man received training from some of the best hand-to-hand fighters in the Marvel universe. He is also quite an experienced fighter considering that he has been fighting crime for 15 years by this point. Still, Spider-Man relies on combat greatly, but it wasn’t exactly paramount for him to master it in great detail like Batman was forced to master it because, let’s face it, his combat skills and tech are the only upper hand he can gain over extremely overpowered supervillains.
Batman is among the greatest fighters in the comics in general, as he is a master of numerous martial arts. Before he took over the identity of Caped Crusader, Batman spent 12 years wandering the planet looking for the best martial artists to train him.
He studied boxing at Roxbury Fielding Academy and received further training from Wildcat in this style. Additionally, he developed a unique fighting style called “Bam Pow,” specifically designed to fight with the Batman Who Laughs. Batman is also skilled in Dim Mak, an ancient martial art that focuses on striking vital points of the opponent’s body to induce paralysis, intense pain, or even death.
He possesses knowledge of Ninjitsu, Karate, Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Tae Kwon Do, showcasing his diverse training. Despite fatigue and blood loss, Batman demonstrated his wrestling abilities by engaging in a match with a bear. He is also skilled in stick fighting and has trained his proteges, the Robins, in using bo-staffs.
Spider-Man vs. Batman: Who is stronger & who wins?
Spider-Man would likely win in a battle against Batman, at least the majority of the time. The physical differences between the two are too great, and Spider-Man is intelligent enough and experienced enough that Batman’s intellect and contingency plan doesn’t give his as much of an advantage when compared to some other characters. This doesn’t mean that Batman cannot win. It just means that he will lose more often than he wins because Spider-Man is both stronger, faster, and more durable than him.
