‘GTA VI’ Price Reportedly Leaks, and Fans Aren’t Ready for the Cost
The price of Grand Theft Auto 6 may have been revealed ahead of its official pre-orders, and if the leak is real, Rockstar Games’ next blockbuster could come with a much higher price tag than many fans expected.
The possible leak comes from FNAC, a major retailer in Portugal that has previously revealed game details, including prices and release information, before official announcements. Ahead of GTA 6 pre-orders reportedly opening on June 25, the retailer briefly listed multiple versions of the highly anticipated game.
The listings suggest that GTA 6 could launch with four different editions, with prices ranging from €89.99 to €199.99. Based on current currency conversions, those prices would roughly translate to around $100, $125, $150 and $230 in the United States.
However, fans should not expect a direct currency conversion. Game prices in Europe and North America often work differently, and publishers usually set separate prices for each market.
For example, when Mario Kart World launched on Nintendo Switch 2, the standard physical edition was priced at €89.99 in Europe. While that equals more than $100 after conversion, the US price was only $79.99.
Because of this, the leaked GTA 6 prices may not mean the game will actually cost over $100 in the US. Many industry observers believe the standard edition could likely be priced around $70 or $80, with more expensive versions available for players who want extra content.
The biggest question surrounding GTA 6 has been whether Rockstar and publisher Take-Two Interactive will push the game beyond the current $70 standard price. Some fans have even speculated that the title could cost $100, but that seems unlikely for the basic version.
Despite the enormous hype around GTA 6, Rockstar still has to consider how pricing could affect sales. The company is expected to aim for one of the biggest entertainment launches in history, and making the standard edition too expensive could hurt the number of players buying the game.
A lower base price would also allow Rockstar to offer premium editions at higher prices. Many major games now use different versions to attract both casual players and dedicated fans willing to spend more for additional bonuses.
The leaked listings could point toward Rockstar using this same strategy. A regular edition could target the widest audience, while special editions could include extra features, digital rewards or exclusive content at a much higher price.
For now, the reported prices remain unconfirmed, and Rockstar Games has not officially announced the cost of GTA 6. Until the company reveals the details, fans will have to wait and see whether the next Grand Theft Auto game breaks another record — this time with its price.
