The interest in Ezra Bridger has been quite high as of late because he is set to appear in his first live-action appearance in the ‘Ahsoka’ series, wherein Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren are on a mission to bring him back to the known galaxy. Of course, fans of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ are familiar with Ezra already because he was the most featured character on that show and because his family background and past were often talked about. So, when and where was Ezra Bridger born?

Ezra Bridger was born on the event widely known as Empire Day because that was when the Republic was turned into the Empire. He was born on the exact day and year of the transitioning of the Republic into the Empire to parents Ephraim and Mira Bridger on the Outer Rim planet called Lothal.

It is important to take note that Ezra Bridger’s birthday and birthplace were vital to the storyline of ‘Rebels.’ But his home planet of Lothal was often the subject of his many different concerns because he only joined the Spectres to find a way to get rid of the Empire on his homeworld. So, with that said, let’s look at when and where Ezra was born.

Ezra was always a native of Lothal

The most important character of ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ is Ezra Bridger, even though all of the members of the Spectres were equally important and were given their own time to shine throughout the entire series. But Ezra was featured the most because a good part of the series focused on his growth as a character. Of course, his journey and development were also focused on his home planet.

The Spectres discovered Ezra Bridger as a troublemaking local on the planet Lothal, an Imperial territory in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. Then and there, the Spectres recruited him as part of their own because he was sensitive to the Force and was already a fugitive on the run from the Empire. As such, he eventually started his path as a Rebel hero together with the other members of the Spectres onboard the Ghost Starship.

Throughout the entire series, the planet of Lothal was the most featured world because this was the most important planet for Ezra. He was born and raised in Lothal to parents Ephraim and Mira Bridger. However, at the start of the series, his parents were nowhere to be found as they were captured by the Empire long ago.

Since then, Ezra lived on his own as an orphan but could carry the same fighting spirit that got his parents caught in the first place, as both of his parents were vocal against the Imperial presence on Lothal.

Ezra eventually found out that his parents were killed during an attempt to escape prison. In that regard, he became even more motivated to eliminate the Empire on his homeworld. As such, the final episode of ‘Rebels’ allowed us to see Ezra succeeding in driving the Empire away from Lothal. However, he sacrificed himself as he was inside Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Chimaera ship when Ezra ordered the Purrgil to take them into hyperspace.

What year was Ezra Bridger born?

On top of the fact that Ezra hated the Empire for what they did to his parents and for making Lothal the worst place to live in, he had something in common with the Imperials. And we must go back to the events of ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ to learn more about this.

Star Wars: Does Ezra Bridger Have a Love Interest?

Back in ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ Supreme Chancellor Palpatine went to the Galactic Senate to announce that the Jedi Order had “betrayed” him and tried to seize power away from him by attacking him in his office. He “survived” the Jedi attack and ordered the clones to kill all the Jedi.

And under the guise of ruling forever, he said that he wanted to secure peace and security throughout the galaxy by transforming the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, with him sitting on the throne as the emperor of the entire galaxy.

Since then, the Empire celebrated an event called Empire Day, which was the day that the Republic turned into the Empire on 19 BBY. This is especially touchy for Ezra Bridger, not only because he hated the Empire but also because he was born on the exact same day that the Empire was born. He was born on Empire Day of 19 BBY, meaning he and the Empire were just as old as one another.

As such, Ezra didn’t like his birthday much because he shared the same birthday as the Empire, which he hated with all of his guts. That is why the Spectres eventually found out that Empire Day was an especially touchy subject for Ezra.

Was Ezra Bridger born the same day as Luke and Leia?

Back in the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ we also saw that Padmé Amidala was pregnant with the twin children of Anakin Skywalker. After the Republic was turned into the Empire, Jedi Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi decided to assassinate Emperor Palpatine and Anakin, respectively, so that they could end the Empire’s rule before it even started.

Of course, both failed as Yoda couldn’t defeat Palpatine, and Obi-Wan refused to kill Anakin. Shortly after Anakin’s defeat, Padmé went into labor and gave birth to Luke and Leia, who both became the two most important heroes of the Rebellion 23 years after they were born.

luke and leia

That means that Luke and Leia were also born on 19 BBY, the same birth year as Ezra. However, the difference is that Luke and Leia were born around two days after Empire Day because many things happened after the Republic was turned into the Empire. As such, they weren’t born on the same day as the transitioning of the Republic into the Empire, which means that Ezra is somewhere around two days older than Luke and Leia.

Is Ezra older than Sabine?

One of the things that fans of ‘Rebels’ were able to notice during the earlier part of the series was the fact that Ezra was often hitting on Sabine, who often rejected his advances. On top of that, Sabine also called Ezra “kid” during the earlier part of the series, even though they were both teenagers.

‘Ahsoka:’ Here’s Why Marrok Might Be Ezra Bridger

The reason why Sabine Wren often calls Ezra “kid” is the fact that she is older than him. While Ezra was born on 19 BBY, Sabine was born on 21 BBY. This means that Sabine is only around two years older than Ezra. And that is why Ezra, who was only 14 years old during the start of ‘Rebels,’ seemed like a kid to the 16-year-old Sabine.
