Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was probably the most comedic in the whole MCU, and Rocket contributed to that greatly with his witty and often sarcastic lines. This does not come as a surprise, as the comics also always depicted Rocket as a funny ”sharp-tongued” guy. That’s why we’ve decided to dedicate this article to him, and we’ve gathered some of the greatest Rocket Racoon quotes from movies and comics in one place!

Rocket Racoon quotes from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie

rocket 2

The Guardians of the Galaxy was the first movie that presented Rocket to the audience on the big screen. And he has had a huge impact on the overall MCU ever since. Here are the best quotes from the movie:

”Quit smiling, you idiot. You are supposed to be a professional.”

Rocket and Groot met before the events presented in the movie, and they were an unusual but well-organized duo for the most part. The two were bounty hunters, and their next target was Peter Quill, a.k.a Star-Lord. They were professionals in their field. Well, Rocket was, and Groot tended to have minor concentration issues. When Groot captured Quill, he smiled in delight, but that’s not what professionals do if you ask Rocket.

”Asleep for the danger, awake for the money, as for frickin’ usual.”

While Gamora, Quill, and Rocket discussed selling the Orb and splitting the profits into three parts, Groot did not like that he was being left out. So, they included him in this plan, even though he was asleep when other inmates tried to hurt Gamora, and Quill and Rocket were the only ones who got her back. According to Rocket, it’s not the first time, as Groot tended to be absent or distracted in moments of need.

”That dude there. I need his prosthetic leg. God knows I don’t need the rest of him. Look at him. He’s useless.”

This was probably one of the most bizarre and funniest moments in the whole movie. As the Guardians were planning their escape from a high-security prison, Kyln, Rocket had a plan, but he needed some things first.

Those things included the guard’s security band, a Quarnix battery, and one of the inmate’s prosthetic leg. No one questioned Rocket, as it seemed he knew what he was about. However, it was later revealed that he never needed the leg. He just thought it would be funny to see the poor man hopping around and wanted to know how he would react when they took the leg from him.

”Let’s see if you can laugh after five or six good shots to your frickin’ face!”

This line was said by a drunken Rocket, and it revealed some of his deepest wounds. He never got over the fact that he was experimented on and tortured more times than he could count. He spent his life being picked on and molested because of his appearance, and he was traumatized. So, when Drax called him ”vermin” and Gamora ”rodent”, he snapped and was ready to put some bullets in them.

In the second installment of the franchise, the Guardians knew each other even better, which also meant they had more time to go on each other’s nerves. Here are the quotes:

”Don’t call me a raccoon!”

When Rocket stole the Anulax Batteries from the Sovereign, the rest of the team was furious with him. Rocket went behind the team’s back when he stole those batteries, and they crash-landed because of him. So Quill started yelling at Rocket, calling him a raccoon; we all know Rocket doesn’t like that. At least, he didn’t at the time.

”Dying is certainly better than having to live an entire life as a mooronic shitbag who thinks Taserface is a cool name.”

Taserface was the leader of the mutiny among Ravagers. The Ravagers captured Rocket, Groot, and Nebula and overthrew Yondu. Taserface confronted Rocket, who barely managed to keep a straight face the whole time. He found Taserface’s name hilarious and eventually burst out laughing.

”You’re smiling. And then, for a second, I got a warm feeling. But then it was ruined by those disgusting-ass teeth.”

When the Ravagers imprisoned Rocket and Yondu, they talked in the cell and learned some things about each other. They talked about family, friends, and belonging somewhere. Then Rocket joked about Ego’s name, which made Yondu smile. But it was short-lived, followed by some of the classic Rocket’s insults.

”So, we’re saving the galaxy again? Awesome! We’re really gonna be able to jack up our prices if we are two times Galaxy savers!”

As the Guardians were ready to confront Ego for one last time and stop his destructive plans, Rocket realized that would be the second time that Guardians would save the galaxy (they had already stopped Ronan), which meant they would probably become the most popular group for hire in the universe afterward. And based on their accomplishments, their hiring fee will skyrocket.

On the other hand, Quill could not believe that’s what Rocket thinks about in the moments when their lives hang in the balance.

Rocket Racoon quotes from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3’

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 connected us with Rocket and everything he’s been through in life even more. It was an emotional roller coaster from the beginning to the end, and here are the quotes:

“Someday, I’m gonna make great machines that fly, and me and my friends are gonna go flyin’ together into the forever and beautiful sky. Lylla, and Teefs, and Floor, and me… Rocket.”

Lylla, Teefs, Floor, and Rocket were all part of Batch 89 and became best friends. They were tortured and experimented on, but everything was easier because they had each other. They often plan for their future and dream about what they want to become.

Rocket’s dream was to be a great engineer and a pilot. His dreams did come true in a way, but he lost friends along the way, the same friends he shared that dream with.

“Pete… I’m done runnin’.”

Rocket fled from High Evolutionary when he was very young, as Evoulutinary intended to kill all Batch 89. He saved himself but left all of his friends to die, which was something Rocket never truly forgave himself. So, when he got the other chance to end High Evolutionary’s plans, he decided to take it, and there was no way he was backing down this time.

Did the High Evolutionary Create Rocket Raccoon?

”The name’s Rocket, Rocket Raccoon.”

Toward the movie’s end, Rocket returns to the cages where the rest of the animals are contained. There he found a batch of small raccoons, saw what species they were, and that they came from Earth. He finally embraced that part of his identity saved the raccoons, and eventually called himself one: ”Rocket, Rocket Racoon.”

”You didn’t want to make things perfect; you just didn’t like the way things are.”

High Evolutionary spent his whole life trying to create perfect species and societies. The main problem was that he genuinely thought he was making the world a better place and didn’t see the faults in his actions.

Even in his last moments, High Evolutionary was confused about why everyone opposed him and was determined that he just wanted to create perfection. But the beauty is in diversity and in the acceptance of it, and that’s what Rocket meant to say with this line.

Rocket Racoon quotes from comics

rocket comics

Rocket is one of the most interesting characters in Marvel Comics, and we have picked up a few of his quotes from several comics that are either important and/or amusing:

”Gotta admit, though, ”Guardians of the Galaxy” is a pretty good name. Yes Groot, old buddy, old tree, even better than ”Groot and branches.”

In the events in “Annihilation” (2006) and “Annihilation: Conquest” (2007), the teams were formed to deal with Annihilus and Phalanx by improvisation. So now, in “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2008), Quill suggested it would be a good idea to form a team that will always be ready to respond to various threats fast and effectively. Everyone agreed that is not such a bad idea, and various name suggestions for the team arose, like ”Ass kickers of Fantastic”, ”Rocket Racoon and his human hangers-on”, ”Drax and his ‘coonskin hat”, etc.

None of it seemed appropriate, and then Rocket came up with the name ”Guardians of the Galaxy,” and the name stuck. However, ”Groot and branches” was a far better name if you ask Groot.

”Man, now I am getting blamed for the things I haven’t even done yet!”

Rocket had a brilliant mind and was a great military tactician. Those were the main reasons why Quill wanted him on the team in the first place. But, it’s fair to say that he tended to provoke troubles occasionally and did not like ”formal” stuff. After a successful mission, the team returned to Knowhere, where Mantis needed the debrief logs to evaluate the team’s psychological well-being as soon as possible.

And she only wanted those debriefs ASAP because Rocket and Drax would most likely pretend to have forgotten in three hours’ time. And the quote above was Rocket’s reaction to it.

”Did you take a double dose of naive pills today, Pete?”

If life taught Rocket anything, it’s that it’s always a good idea not to trust anyone or anything blindly. That also made him alert for the things others would normally discard as irrelevant.

When Skrulls infiltrated Knowhere, an explosion occurred, and Rocket immediately wanted to find the remaining Skrulls onboard, considering any of his teammates could be one. Quill, however, thought that was impossible, which made him very naive, in Rocket’s opinion.

”It seems like Knowhere techs are getting the radiation leak contained… so no tumors for this handsome face.”

After the explosion on Knowhere, the Guardian’s base was in lockdown, and there was a radiation leak. Luckily, the leak was contained, so Rocket got to keep his pretty face safe and sound.

”Holy Crapola, is it me or is he looking a little bit feminine this time around? And is it wrong for me to think he’s pretty hot?”

One of the main villains that the Guardians had to face in ”Guardians of the Galaxy” comic issues was Starhawk. This being was after Major Victory, who wasn’t supposed to be in that time and space. Starhawk got to Knowhere two times, the first time as a man and the second time as a female. So, when Rocket saw Starhawk for the second time, his reaction was hilarious.

”Pete, I found your hat. You may want to wash it.”

After realizing that Quill used Mantis to trick all the members of the Guardians into joining the team, the squad was a wreck. Nevertheless, Rocket tried to find Quill, who was sent to the Negative zone in prison.

Eventually, the Guardians find themselves outside prison walls, and Rocket finds Quill’s helmet. The helmet, however, wasn’t clean… They later located Quill, and Rocket gave him the helmet with friendly advice to wash it first.

”You snore too loud, ya lousy gas! So shank you very much!”

When Otta Spice persuaded Rocket to join her on an adventure to rob a vault in the ”Rocket” comic, it did not turn up so good for him for the most part, and he even ended up in jail.

The only way to get himself out of there was to find a way to escape. So Rocket shanked his roommate, Gasbag, which got him put in the Hole, from where he could plan his steps further.

”Trust me, I am Groot’s lucky rabbit’s foot. Except, not a rabbit.”

Besides being a great protector of the galaxy, Rocket is also quite a ladies’ man. Romance, however, is not his thing. In the ”Rocket Racoon” comic, he took the princess he saved on a date. The princess wasn’t very happy with where Rocket took her, as it was a wrestling match where Groot was one of the fighters. However, Rocket puts a lot of money on Groot to win, and there is no way he would miss that fight.
