Shade or Just Silent? Zendaya’s Mom Has a Very Cryptic Reaction to the ‘Euphoria’ Finale
Zendaya’s mother, Claire Stoermer, has reacted publicly to the emotional end of Euphoria, following the release of the show’s season 3 finale. Her comments were shared on Instagram Stories, according to social media posts and reporting on the episode’s aftermath.
The finale aired on HBO on Sunday, May 31, and quickly sparked strong reactions from viewers. The episode ended with a major turning point for Zendaya’s character, Rue Bennett, whose story came to a tragic conclusion after an overdose involving laced painkillers given to her by Alamo Brown, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
After the episode aired, Stoermer posted a message acknowledging the flood of reactions she had received online. She wrote, “Lots of messages in my DM’s from people about last night’s episode,” and added, “I’m gonna keep my thoughts to myself. Definitely made me sad….and other emotions as well. But just gonna leave it right there…”

The ending of the series was later confirmed by creator Sam Levinson, who said season 3 would serve as the final chapter of Euphoria. He described Rue’s fate as a deliberate creative decision meant to reflect the reality of addiction and its consequences.
In comments shared after the finale, Levinson explained his reasoning behind the direction of the story. He said, “The honest ending is that people like Rue don’t make it. People relapse. They f— up. They’re not ready to get clean.” He also connected the storyline to the broader impact of drug addiction and the rise of fentanyl-related deaths.
Levinson further added, “In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me.” He also said the finale served as a tribute to actor Angus Cloud, who passed away in 2023, and whose presence is acknowledged in the final episode through unseen footage.
Zendaya herself also addressed the end of the series in behind-the-scenes comments. She spoke emotionally to the cast and crew, saying, “I just want to say thank you. I’m incredibly grateful for every single one of you. Many of you have been here since the beginning and watched me grow up. It’s been such a pleasure and an honor. Thank you so much.”
The finale also resolved the storyline of Jacob Elordi’s character, Nate Jacobs. His arc ended in a dark and symbolic sequence where he is buried in a coffin and confronted by a rattlesnake, reflecting the consequences of his actions throughout the series. Elordi described the filming experience in a post-episode segment aired on HBO.

He said, “I had to go into this coffin. My shoulders were touching the side, and I couldn’t move my arms, and then they would drill the lid on, and it would get dark.” He later added, “It was really nice, actually. It was quite peaceful in there.” He also called the ending a fitting conclusion for his character.
The final season of Euphoria is now available to stream on HBO Max, marking the end of one of HBO’s most talked-about modern dramas since its debut in 2019.
