“Sorry Patterson!” Jack Black Jokes About Becoming DCU’s New Batman
Jack Black recently made a hilarious joke about becoming the next Batman, and fans can’t get enough of it. While promoting A Minecraft Movie alongside Jason Momoa on Extra TV, Black couldn’t resist making a playful comment about James Gunn’s upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
During the interview, the host brought up the fact that James Gunn has yet to cast his new Bruce Wayne. Jack Black, known for his quick wit, immediately jumped in and joked, “You’re saying I could be the Batman?” The host then covered Black’s eyes in a playful moment, and Black, always ready with a joke, responded with the now-iconic line, “Sorry Patterson, there’s a new Batman in town.”
This was clearly a reference to Robert Pattinson, who plays the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman films. Black’s joke had everyone laughing, but it also sparked an unexpected reaction from fans.
Black’s playful remark led many fans to wonder: What if Batman had a sense of humor? DC Studios, under James Gunn’s leadership, is already moving toward a lighter tone, blending action with comedy. Gunn has promised a fun and engaging approach, similar to what he brought to Guardians of the Galaxy.
With Jack Black’s joke making the rounds, some fans are now hoping for a more comedic take on Batman. While it’s unlikely that Black will actually land the role, his enthusiasm and humor have made people imagine a very different kind of Dark Knight.
While The Batman: Part II with Robert Pattinson remains on track, and James Gunn is expected to cast a more traditional Bruce Wayne for his DCU, fans can’t help but dream. What would a Jack Black version of Batman look like? Maybe a mix of action, comedy, and rock ‘n’ roll?
