Tom Hiddleston appeared in plenty of MCU projects, mostly as a villain and a threat to Avengers & humans in general. For most of Loki’s career, he was more of a nuisance than anything, but fans took quite a liking for the character due to brief and fleeting moments of humanity, and ultimate efforts to make things right between him and his older brother.

Everything changed with the release of ‘Loki’ season 1, Loki’s character ventured in a different, more heroic direction keeping his mischievous character traits. The show was an instant success, so it didn’t surprise us in the slightest that it was the first MCU Disney+ show to get a second season.

The second season was something else entirely, in a showcase of perhaps the second biggest sacrifice in the MCU, Loki replaced He Who Remains as the god of stories, creating Yggdrasil and sacrificing his future to keep the multiverse together. Since Loki now has a massive new role in the MCU, fans are expecting him to show up or be referenced in pretty much every multiverse-focused MCU project. But if Hiddleston is to be believed, this cannot be further from the truth.

In his latest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the actor admitted that he is unsure about his MCU future, and whether he will return, he also explained that he is completely fine with how his character’s journey ended.

I don’t know. I really don’t know. I know that we’ve reached some sort of narrative conclusion with season two, which feels very satisfying to me.

There were talks about ‘Loki’ Season 3 but those were just speculations, the showrunner himself explains that the show ended in such a way, that it makes no sense to continue it except if they really find a good reason (and story) for it. There’s always a possibility that Loki could be included in the upcoming ‘Thor 5’ currently in development, or the ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ a movie that is so far rumored to include just about anybody and their mother.

Tom also reflected on Loki’s characterization as a villain.

I’m aware that he’s made some interesting choices, which could be accumulated into a picture that looks like he’s a villain, and once upon a time, he was making some misguided choices. You know, trying to take over New York and the Avengers having to assemble to stop him, that was a bad day in the office. … I’d like to think that you know, 14 years later, he’s making some slightly more generous, loving and heroic choices.

We completely agree with you Tom, after all, what’s one misguided attack on Earth against saving the whole of Multiverse and giving it the freedom to choose?
