The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 is kicking off with the film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” This movie will also introduce a new primary antagonist in the MCU, Kang the Conqueror. The trailer gives us a glimpse of Kang’s immense power, demonstrated through a powerful burst of energy. This gives us an opportunity to revisit the MCU and one of the most powerful characters in it, the Scarlet Witch. While Wanda’s fate in the MCU is currently unclear, if she were to return, she would pose quite a danger to Kang the Conqueror. Due to that, we’ve decided to compare our two characters to see how they scale against each other. So, who would win if it ever came to a fight between Scarlet Witch and Kang? Both in the comics and in the MCU.

Scarlet Witch would win in a fight against Kang the Conqueror. Following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda has showcased insane physical strength, durability, and reality-bending powers. While we’re not sure what powers Kang will have in the MCU, he can only hope to match Scarlet Witch’s versatility and the sheer force of her Chaos Magic. This is all speculation, however, since we’re yet to see what Kang can do, but at this point, it takes a lot to take down Wanda. In the comics, it’s another story altogether since Kang overpowers Scarlet Witch in almost every aspect.

Now that we’ve given you a brief insight into how the fight would play out, it’s time to analyze it in more detail. If you’re interested in the powers, abilities, strength, and durability of Scarlet Witch and Kang the Conqueror, stay with us and keep reading!

Powers and abilities

Nathaniel Richards, also known as Kang the Conqueror, is a cunning and brilliant scientist from the 31st century. In the comics, he discovers the existence of multiple universes and uses this knowledge to manipulate time and space, raiding both the past and future. This led to the establishment of the Time Variance Authority.  In the MCU, it appears that Kang has the power of time travel and the ability to manipulate time and space, though his powers remain to be seen.

Kang’s primary power source comes from his highly advanced armor from the 40th century, which is far more advanced than any technology in the MCU. This armor allows him to unleash powerful energy blasts, open portals, use telekinetic force, and manipulate space and time to a greater extent.

Kang the conqueror

Scarlet Witch is a Nexus being, which means she is a hub for magical energies throughout the universe. This gives her exceptional abilities to manipulate reality and probabilities. This list of powers applies to the comics and the MCU, as her abilities are relatively similar.

Scarlet Witch possesses immense psychic and energy-manipulating powers, and her telekinesis is unmatched. Despite her physical weakness, she can manipulate heavy objects with her mind alone. She can create force fields for offense and defense and is also a powerful telepath. With the ability to alter reality and time travel, her probability-altering powers ensure that the universe works in her favor. After obtaining the Darkhold, her powers are further enhanced, and she gains the ability to Dreamwalk, which allows her to possess alternate versions of herself from other universes and even alter reality.

The fight between Kang and Scarlet Witch could be summed as “who can alter the reality the better.” Even though Kang’s specialty is messing with the Universes’ timelines, we’re still not convinced he can do it better than Wanda, especially when we consider her chaos magic and other powerful spells. This point goes to Wanda.

Strength and Stamina

Kang’s armor enhances his physical abilities, allowing him to lift to 5 tons while wearing it. This immense strength puts him in a league of his own, outpacing many other superhumans in the MCU. The suit also gives him enhanced stamina, enabling him to withstand extended periods of physical exertion without tiring. Kang will likely have access to his armor in the MCU as well, and at least some semblance of his incredible strength and stamina will transfer into the movie.

Scarlet Witch is not typically known for her raw physical strength, as her human physiology limits it. If she were to rely solely on her physical prowess, she would not be particularly formidable. However, she compensates for this by utilizing her telekinetic powers, which allow her to easily manipulate heavy objects and even throw people. Despite her limited physical strength, her mastery of telekinesis makes her a formidable force. Wanda received a significant strength boost in the MCU and is certainly stronger than her comic-book version, but it’s still nowhere near what Kang can do, empowered with technology. This point goes to him.

Speed

While it remains to be seen how fast Kang will be portrayed in the MCU, his armor (in the comics) grants him enhanced speed. Additionally, he can teleport, enabling him to quickly cover large distances. However, in terms of combat speed, he may be less agile compared to other characters. Nevertheless, his armor and teleportation abilities give him unique advantages that make him a formidable opponent.

Scarlet witch levitating

Scarlet Witch possesses many abilities, including levitation, teleportation, time travel, and dreamwalking. However, her human physiology restricts her base speed, and she is not known for her speed. Once again, in the MCU, she has received a slight speed boost that allowed her to counter blows from much faster enemies. She can use her powers additional to outmaneuver the fastest opponents. Still, with everything said, it’s not likely that her speed will be comparable to Kang the Conqueror.

Durability

Kang’s 40th-century armor provides him with exceptional durability and resilience, allowing him to withstand strong impacts without being injured. He also has immortality to some extent because of his ability to control time. As a human from the 31st century, he ages much more slowly than an average person in the present times, increasing his resistance to damage, toxins, poisons, and illnesses. At least some aspect of his durability will likely transfer to the MCU, so we expect Kang to be quite durable and challenging to kill.

Scarlet Witch durability

Scarlet Witch, strengthened by the Darkhold, can greatly enhance her durability. She demonstrated this during battles in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, such as the one at Kamar-Taj, where she was able to withstand strong energy blasts without being harmed, and the one at Mount Wundagore, where she absorbed multiple blows from America Chavez without any injury. Her recent MCU appearances proved that she could use her powerful magic to shield herself from even the most powerful blows. Paired with her ability to dreamwalk, it’s questionable whether she can ever truly die as she can easily transfer herself to some parallel universe. This point goes to Wanda.

Intelligence

Kang the Conqueror is a highly intelligent and skilled individual who has made several significant discoveries, including time travel and the existence of the Multiverse. He has extensive knowledge of physics and access to information that people from the present do not have. By traveling through time, Kang has gained access to forgotten knowledge from the past. He was also the survivor of the Multiversal War, which requires one to skillfully scheme and manipulate almost every aspect of reality.

Scarlet Witch is well-versed in the realm of magic and the laws of the cosmos, making her extremely intelligent. She has been known to outsmart even Dr. Strange on multiple occasions, and her knowledge of the occult is unparalleled. When she comes up with a plan, she executes it with almost perfect precision, even if it leads to cosmic turmoil. But her greatest weakness lies in the stability of her mind, which has often been called into question. Wanda’s willpower might be strong enough to conjure up a completely different reality. It’s, however, unlikely that she can match Kang’s intellect.

Combat Skills

Kang the Conqueror is known to be a skilled fighter with mastery in both armed and unarmed combat. His 40th-century armor provides him with physical enhancements that make him quite strong. At the same time, we have yet to see his combat abilities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In the comics, he is considered to be a master combatant.

Scarlet witch training by Captain America

Scarlet Witch was never known to be a master combatant in the comics, and this is one aspect of her character that greatly differs in the MCU. In the MCU, Scarlet Witch was trained by Captain America and had extensive knowledge of armed and unarmed combat. She is a skilled fighter that turns deadly when she utilizes her various offensive spells. She might not go down as Marvel’s greatest fighter, but she probably has what it takes to take down Kang, based on what we’ve seen so far.

Kang the Conqueror vs. Scarlet Witch, who wins?

As you can see, Kang and Wanda are pretty evenly matched. However, based on everything we’ve stated, Wanda’s powers are a bit more versatile as she can utilize a variety of types of magic, including countering every single power that Kang has. Scarlet Witch certainly proved that she is among the most powerful character in the MCU with the latest installment that she has appeared in, and if it ever came to a fight between the two, we’re not exactly sure that it would be such a landslide win for Kang the Conqueror.
