Suppose you follow anything Marvel-related on social media. In that case, there’s a high chance you stumped across some rumors and reports regarding ‘Deadpool 3,’ the upcoming and highly-anticipated movie that will finally make Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth a canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie started production last May, but it’s been on pause since July when the SAG-AFTRA strike began. It’s unknown when production will resume and whether the movie will be finished in time for its current release date (it most likely won’t), but we still recently got a ton of rumors and reports about the movie’s characters and special returns.

From what is officially known, ‘Deadpool 3’ will bring back the majority of the ‘Deadpool 2’ cast, except Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable. Additionally, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner will return as Wolverine as Elektra, respectively, although Ben Affleck’s Daredevil isn’t expected to return. Some of the most recently rumored appearances are Daniel Radcliffe as the potential alternate variant of Wolverine, Walker Scobell as Kidpool, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.

‘Deadpool 3’ director addresses all the rumors that are surfacing on social media

Due to the ongoing strikes in the USA, we can’t get much information from actors and writers, but thankfully, we still have directors, and Shawn Levy, the director of ‘Deadpool 3’ recently dropped some teases about his next project. He was even asked about possibly directing the upcoming ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ but the director managed to dodge that bullet.

In a recent interview for Entertainment Weekly, here’s what Levy had to say about all the rumors.

“I’d rather not weigh in on that, but I’ll say this. The rumors of actors, singers, [and] sports stars who are all apparently in ‘Deadpool 3’ are fabulous. If all I read was the internet, I would have the greatest cast ever assembled in the history of cinema, so I’ll simply say that some of those rumors are true, and some of them aren’t.”

‘Deadpool 3’ Director Opens Up About the Upcoming Threequel

The experience of being a long-time comic book movie fan tells us always to take anything that isn’t official with a grain of salt. People usually make mistakes when they build their anticipation for the movie based on unofficial rumors, which can lead to disappointment.

Just remember last year’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ for which various rumors were promising the appearance of Tom Cruise as the Superior Iron Man, Deadpool’s cameo, three-hour runtime, and whatnot.

The rumors about ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ have also started circulating around, along with some horrifically bad Photoshop edits in which you can see, for example, Iron Man and Morbius in the same scene. May we remind you that ‘Secret Wars’ isn’t even written yet, so please, don’t fall for everything you see on the internet.

‘Deadpool 3’ is starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapičić, Rob Delaney, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Jennifer Garner, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen. Directed by Shawn Levy, the movie is currently scheduled to be released on May 3, 2024.
