Supergirl vs. Captain Marvel: Which Danvers Would Win in a Fight?

Share:

Kara Danvers (Earth name) and Carol Danvers have a lot in common besides their names. They both have alien physiologies, they are incredibly fast & strong, and they are among the most powerful female superheroes in their respective universes. Both Supergirl and Captain Marvel have seen a rise in popularity in recent years, mostly due to their live-action counterparts, and due to this interest, we decided to pit them in a battle to see who would come out on top. In a battle between Supergirl and Captain Marvel, who is stronger, and who would win in a fight?

Supergirl is stronger than Captain Marvel and would win in a fight against her. She is physically stronger, faster, and more durable. Both characters are pretty similar, but Supergirl is on a whole different level in terms of how much damage output she can shell out and receive. Even in her Binary form, Carol wouldn’t be able to counter Supergirl.

Now that we’ve covered that Supergirl is more powerful, it’s time to analyze the strength, speed, powers, and durability of both characters so you can see how we came to our conclusion. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!

Powers and abilities

Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful superheroes in Marvel Comics, and this is due to her unique hybrid human-Kree physiology. Most of her powers can be summarized as energy projection and manipulation, which makes her extremely difficult to deal with in combat. She can unleash powerful blasts of photonic energy and likewise create various different objects, tools, and weapons by willing them into existence. Her Binary form also brings her destructive powers to an altogether different level.

Supergirl also has an alien physiology, and like her more famous cousin, she is a full Kryptonian. Kryptonians are vastly powerful while on Earth due to their unique ability to utilize yellow solar radiation to empower themselves. Every cell in their body is imbued and empowered by the sun, giving them an impressive array of abilities at their disposal. Supergirl has more or less the same powers are Superman, with several notable additions. She has heat vision, super-breath, and the ability to project her stored solar energy via destructive blasts. She is also quite adept at producing powerful force fields around her.

Both Supergirl and Captain Marvel have impressive energy-projection powers, so both get the point in this category.

Points: Captain Marvel (1:1) Supergirl

Strength and Stamina

Captain Marvel is incredibly physically strong as she can lift close to 70 tons, and she has feats to match it. She was able to bear the weight of a dead celestial, preventing it from crashing onto the Earth. Her unique physiology also provides her with unparalleled stamina as she can fight and exert herself for over 24 hours before fatigue toxins start overwhelming her.

Even though Captain Marvel is incredibly strong, Supergirl is stronger. Kara can rival her own cousin in displays of strength as she has almost unlimited strength and stamina and her disposal. According to some sources, she can lift at least a million tons and keep fighting as long as she has access to the yellow sun. She can exert herself almost indefinitely without feeling tired because she can directly convert the sun’s energy to energy.

Supergirl can lift and, consequently, strike a punch a lot harder than Captain Marvel, so the point goes to her.

Points: Captain Marvel (1:2) Supergirl

Speed

Captain Marvel is known to be blindingly fast. She can travel at supersonic speeds, she is capable of flying, and consequently, her combat reflexes are vastly heightened as well. Her enemies can hardly keep up with her as she appears as a blur. Captain Marvel is so fast in her binary form that she resembles a falling star.

Like Superman, Supergirl can reach the speed of light in outer space, and on Earth, she can easily outrun a bullet. Due to her insane speed, Kara is often compared to Flash. Although we have to break it to you, she is far slower than him. Still, the mere fact that she is often compared to one of the most iconic speedsters in comics, in general, is enough of a feat. Supergirl is the fastest when she is flying; however, her alien speeds translate well to combat as well. Being faster than a speeding bullet means that hardly anyone is fast enough to land a punch.

Captain Marvel is fast, but once again, Supergirl is faster. The point goes to Kara.

Points: Captain Marvel (1:3) Supergirl

Durability

Captain Marvel has plenty of durability feats. She can withstand nuclear detonations and explosions on a planetary scale. She likewise managed to tank hits from some of the most powerful characters in Marvel comics. Even though she is not immortal, her biological aging processes make her age more slowly, and she is also quite resistant to most human ailments. All this makes Captain Marvel almost impossible to kill through conventional means.

Supergirl is nearly impossible to kill as long as she is exposed to yellow sun radiation. Due to her Kryptonian physiology, Kara can withstand extreme damage. Her bodily tissues are extremely hard and dense, and she is, as it seems, immune to most conventional forms of damage. Kryptonians are famously, however, weak to Kryptonite and magic. But since Captain Marvel’s powers are not magic based, this wouldn’t be that much of an advantage. Captain Marvel would, however, relatively easily get her hands on Kryptonite.

Even with the Kryptonite, Supergirl, like every Kryptonian, is hard to kill as long as she is supercharged by her celestial battery. The point goes to her.

Intelligence

We know that Captain Marvel is powerful, and while her powers are in focus, most people forget that she has quite a successful career and manages to excel in everything she decides to take on. She is quite a proficient spy. She is a brilliant author and one of the most skilled pilots in the comics. Due to her military training and her Kree knowledge, she is among the most capable tacticians in Marvel Comics. Her knowledge of Kree technology likewise gives her an edge, although it wouldn’t be useful in a fight against Supergirl.

Supergirl is a genius in terms of her physiology, as her brain is literally more advanced than that of a regular human being. She can analyze and process information much faster than humans, which gives her an edge. However, she lacks intelligence feats, just like Superman. She has a pretty high IQ and would be able to break herself out of real trouble if she is forced only to use her wits.

Even though both Captain Marvel and Supergirl are intelligent, Captain Marvel is more experienced and more accomplished, and due to that, the point goes to her.

Points: Captain Marvel (2:4) Supergirl

Combat Skills

It’s pretty well known that Captain Marvel has gone through formal military training and that she is an exceptional fighter, probably among the best in Marvel Comics Universe. She is quite skilled in various fighting techniques and even in hand-to-hand combat. She is, most of the time, faster and stronger than her opponents, and her knowledge of tactics and warfare usually means that she is prepared for all possible outcomes. Captain Marvel’s combative skills have been honed to the point where she can easily defeat most of her opponents.

Supergirl, like Captain Marvel, had formal training as well back on Krypton before she departed for Earth. She is skilled in Kryptonian fighting styles, and unsurprisingly, she is a capable swordsman. Although most of the time, she won’t rely on those skills as she can easily overpower most of her opponents with raw strength.

Both Supergirl and Captain Marvel are skilled combatants with formal training backgrounds. However, Captain Marvel is a professional. The point goes to her.

Points: Captain Marvel (3:4) Supergirl

Supergirl vs. Captain Marvel: Who wins?

As you can see by our analysis, Supergirl is vastly more powerful than Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel has an edge when it comes to experience and fighting styles, but that wouldn’t be enough to deal with Supergirl, however, as there is no clear way how to dispose of her permanently due to her vast durability. Supergirl would be able to outrun and overpower Captain Marvel.

She can tank everything that Carol can throw at her, and her punches would land significantly harder than anything that Carol has up her sleeve due to Supergirl’s godlike strength. With everything said, Supergirl wins.
