The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 comedy-drama directed by David Frankel and based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel. It stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, and follows a young journalist who works for a powerful fashion magazine editor.
The film was produced by Wendy Finerman and adapted by Aline Brosh McKenna, with filming mainly in New York City and some in Paris. It was released in June 2006 and became a major box office success, earning over $326 million worldwide.
Meryl Streep’s performance was especially praised, earning her several major award nominations and a Golden Globe win. A sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, later premiered in 2026 at Lincoln Center in New York.
