Jacen Syndulla is one of the characters who made their live-action debut in the ‘Ahsoka’ series. Of course, we know that Jacen is the son of Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla, and that means that he has Rebel hero blood running through his veins. We also know that his father, Kanan, was a strong Jedi Knight who ended up sacrificing his life for the sake of his family. So, does that mean that Jacen Syndulla is also sensitive to the Force?

There is a good chance that Jacen Syndulla is Force-sensitive because Force sensitivity tends to be hereditary. Since Jacen’s father was a Jedi Knight who was strong in the Force, Jacen may have inherited his strength in the Force as well. And it was hinted in episode 4 of ‘Ahsoka’ that Jacen can sense danger.

Fans were already thinking about the possibility of Jacen being sensitive to the Force ever since he was first introduced in the epilogue of ‘Star Wars: Rebels.’ This makes sense because he is the son of Kanan Jarrus. There’s also the fact that the Jedi need to replenish their numbers, and it is only right that more and more children with Force sensitivity are born. That said, let’s look at whether or not Jacen is strong in the Force.

Force sensitivity is hereditary

Introduced at the end of the ‘Rebels’ storyline, Jacen Syndulla made his live-action debut in the ‘Ahsoka’ series. Of course, it goes without saying that fans of ‘Rebels’ were already aware that Jacen was the son of Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla.

At some point before Kanan’s death, he and Hera became intimate, and this led to Hera’s pregnancy. And we saw Jacen in one of the epilogue scenes of ‘Rebels.’

Considering that he is the son of Kanan, who we know was a true Jedi Knight both in action and in name, Jacen has all the makings of a Jedi himself. And that’s because we know that Force sensitivity is hereditary in the world of Star Wars.

Back in the original trilogy, we learned that Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were strong in the Force because they were the children of none other than Anakin Skywalker, who was supposed to be the strongest ever in terms of his potential in the Force. In that regard, it goes without saying that Luke and Leia were extremely gifted in the Force due to their father’s talents.

On top of that, in ‘Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace,’ Qui-Gon Jinn sensed that the young Anakin was strong in the Force. He asked Shmi Skywalker who Anakin’s father was because he understood that Force sensitivity can be passed down from generation to generation. Of course, we all know that Shmi got pregnant without ever having a husband, as the will of the Force conceived Anakin.

Then, in the sequel trilogy, Ben Solo was powerful in the Force because he was the son of Leia Organa, who we know is sensitive to the Force but was never a true Jedi. And this all boils down to the fact that Force sensitivity is hereditary.

Their Midi-chlorian count determines a person’s sensitivity to the Force. Midi-chlorians are microscopic organisms that reside within every living being in the galaxy. They are the ones responsible for communicating with the Force. And because Midi-chlorian count is genetic in nature, it goes without saying that a person can pass their high Midi-chlorian count down to their offspring, which explains why Force-sensitivity is hereditary.

Now, because we know that Jacen Syndulla is the son of Kanan Jarrus, we know that he may have also inherited his father’s sensitivity to the Force. Kanan may not have been the most powerful Jedi in terms of his overall potential, but he was certainly strong enough in the Force and was a true Jedi in every way possible. And this opens the possibility that he may have passed on his strength in the Force to his son.

The clues point out that Jacen is sensitive to the Force

At this point, Jacen is yet to show any Force powers that tend to be quite obvious. After all, we’ve only seen him in two episodes. But there have been clues that point to the possibility that Jacen could be strong in the Force.

First off, he started learning how to pilot a ship at an early age. We saw him co-piloting the Ghost during the epilogue of ‘Rebels.’ It is possible that he was only around five years old at that time, but he was already gifted enough as a pilot.

Granted that his mother is one of the greatest pilots in the galaxy, Jacen’s Jedi reflexes may have made it easier for him to learn how to fly a ship. For instance, Anakin was already a good podracer at a very early age because of his strength in the Force.

Then, in episode 4, we saw Jacen and Hera flying off to Seatos to help out Ahsoka and Sabine, who needed backup. The Ghost was about to charge right at the Eye of Sion to prevent it from entering hyperspace, only for them to fail because Morgan Elsbeth and her crew had already completed the necessary preparations to fly to Peridea.

The Eye of Sion flew right through the Ghost and the other starfighters that accompanied Jacen and Hera. They barely survived the encounter, as Jacen was clearly affected by what happened. He told his mother that he had a bad feeling as Hera could be seen with a worried look on her face.

Jedi are known to sense danger or any irregularities in the Force without even knowing what kind of danger they are about to face. This allows them to react quickly to a situation or to learn how to act accordingly when they sense danger. And the fact that Jacen had a bad feeling when the Eye of Sion flew into hyperspace could mean that he is strong in the Force.

There’s also a good possibility that Hera already knew about her son’s sensitivity to the Force because Jacen told her that he wanted to be a Jedi. Hera didn’t discourage the young boy from following his dream, as she probably already knew that he had the makings of a good Jedi.

That was why Hera had a bad look on her face after her son said that he had a bad feeling, as she trusted her son’s instincts due to his sensitivity to the Force.

Whatever the case may be, Jacen may end up becoming a Jedi at one point in the future because that has always been his dream. The problem, however, is that the future doesn’t look too bright for him because we know that Luke Skywalker was supposed to be the last Jedi during the events of the sequel trilogy. And if Jacen ends up becoming a Jedi, we don’t know what the future holds for him.
