God of War (Franchise)
God of War is an action-adventure franchise created by David Jaffe and developed mainly by Sony Santa Monica Studio. It started in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 and has grown into a major PlayStation series with multiple main games, spin-offs, and side projects across different platforms. The story mainly follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior who becomes the God of War, first focusing on Greek mythology and later shifting to Norse mythology alongside his son Atreus.
The series is known for its strong storytelling, intense combat, and critical success, including multiple Game of the Year awards. It has sold over 66 million copies worldwide and expanded into comics, novels, and planned film and TV adaptations. A new installment called God of War: Laufey is currently in development, focusing on Kratos’ wife Faye as the main character and expanding the story into other mythologies.
