Will There Be a Season 2 of ‘Secret Invasion’? Plot, Cast & Potential Release Date

After the final of the first season of ‘Secret Invasion,’ plenty of room to further develop the storyline was left in the open. With that in mind, it is not far-fetched that the show’s second season could also happen in the future, as there are still some things between humans and the Skrulls that need to be taken care of. So, will there be a ‘Secret Invasion’ Season 2?

There are no official announcements that the second season of ‘Secret Invasion’ will happen. The show was supposed to be a one-season mini-series. However, many things were left in the open, so the second season is possible. And should the second season happen, that won’t be up until the middle of 2025 or later.

Since the first season has just ended, it is no wonder that there is not much information regarding the potential next season. Nevertheless, if you are interested in some speculations about it, keep reading to find out more!

Potential release date of ‘Secret Invasion’ Season 2

Even before the first season started, it was announced that ‘Secret Invasion’ was intended to be a mini-series, unlike many other Marvel shows in the last few years. That said, there is no official release date for the second season, and it is questionable if the second one will even happen.

The aftermath of ‘Secret Invasion’ will most likely be mentioned in the upcoming movie ‘The Marvels.’ This movie will partially occur on S.A.B.E.R., and we know that the station does have Skrulls onboard, and Fury even took Varra there to help him with the diplomatic mission that involves a peace treaty between the Kree and Skrulls.

If, by any chance, the show’s second season were to happen, that won’t happen before 2025 since then would be an opportunity to adjust the storyline for the upcoming Marvel’s Phase Six.

What could the plot of ‘Secret Invasion’ Season 2 be?

After the first season finale, one thing is for sure – all the fuss between humans and Skrulls is not nearly over, and there is a big opportunity for Fury to manage and secure peace between the Kree and Skrulls.

President Ritson declared an open war against Skrulls, resulting in riots and cold-blooded murders all over the globe. This led to innocent lives lost and many people taking matters into their own hands without any responsibility for their actions. Sonya recruited G’iah, who is now an all-powered Super-Skrull after gaining the powers of many superheroes, and the two of them will surely have a lot to say in this matter.

Also, President Ritson’s decision will cost him his presidency because in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross is the new POTUS. The new president may secure peace between humans and the Skrulls even before the potential second season of the ‘Secret Invasion.’

And we must keep in mind that there are other Skrulls out there, led by Emperor Drogge, so they may appear in the future. After the finale of the first season, everything is possible, and it is only a question if all of these questions and unfinished storylines will be resolved in the second season or the other different Marvel projects.

What about the cast of ‘Secret Invasion’ Season 2?

One thing the first season was not afraid of doing was killing off some of the most important characters. Ever since Maria Hill met her end in the first episode, it was clear that we could expect anything. Gravik also killed Talos, to the audience’s surprise, but that ultimately cost him his life since G’iah got her revenge in the final battle.

That said, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos most likely won’t return, and neither will Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. Cobie’s character was one of the most long-lived throughout the franchise, and to kill her off this easily angered the fans a bit, and there is still a slight hope that somehow she may return, even though that is unlikely.

If the second season were to happen, the characters and actors with the most chance to return are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Olivia Colman as Sonya Falsworth, Emilia Clarke as G’iah, and Charlayne Woodard as Priscilla. All the Secret Invasion started because of Fury’s actions, so it makes sense that he is also a crucial part of it in the future. G’iah and Sonya are determined to make the world a better place together, and Priscilla could be there as a diplomat and Fury’s support.

The potential second season would most likely introduce new characters and cast, but since all of this is speculative, we can only guess at this point.
